I have three WT skulls retrieved from bucks that were found dead. They've been stored for several years. I would like to have them cleaned up, possibly even have the antlers stained. Since they are not fresh, will the skull withstand harsh chemicals? Should I just forget about it? Let me know what you think.

Don't use harsh chemicals. Even fresh skulls will deteriorate with harsh chemicals. Use hot water and dawn soap to clean. Use the strongest hair developer that you can to whiten, and use old english scratch cover to stain the antlers. I've been through many trial and error already, and this is the best method that I have found so far.

I soaked mine in Dawn and water for a looong time, taking out every couple weeks to clean it some more. Takes time but worked great. Now I need to do the next part. Have the stuff from Sally beauty, just need to do it.
Lots of helpful videos on youtube
