I know that there is no way to really know but just as a suggestion for me to get an idea on how many "clicks" to turn my elevation knob up to: If I have about a 200 yard zero on my 6.5 with this scope which is a mill dot, how many clicks to go up to for a 1000 yards. I know it may seem like a silly question but, it is a question to give me something to look for, to see even if my scope can go up that high. I looked and from what I can find out is, that with a 140 grain bullet the 6.5 would drop around 9 to 10 feet depending on the barrel length. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you Robert

yes i was looking at that but I didn't understand it showed something like 185. 2. I was thinking it would be 185 clicks up but I wasn't sure if I understood that. Am I in the right ballpark on that basic idea?

I put all the information that i had but trying to learn on how to read the answers I wasn't sure as I have never used one. I was thinking that it was telling me something like 185 clicks up or something to that effect. I was like I don't even know if I have that many clicks or if I was even looking at it correctly.

How would I read this? 336.3 would that be that many clicks up to hit 1000 yards?

oh I think i see the drop in inches 463.4 so how would i know how many clicks lol. if one click is like a 1/4 of an inch at a 100 yards, would that be 1/2 inch at 200? I fairly new at the scope stuff I have played with it very like I would just set a zero point and go from there but never really spent much time trying to really understand it.

Ok, quit talking to yourself about clicks. I’m not going to get into that but here’s your chart based on the information you provided. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/04/full-16103-388000-488b793c_2d39_4f53_92e9_8d5718ce1729.png) It looks like a 100 yards with that zero is 12.6 mils, or in your thinking 126 clicks. Mils are the easiest thing in the world to learn. It also looks like that load will lose stability well before 1000 yards.

That should say 1000 yards, not 100. It won’t let me edit.

And do not zero a Mil or MOA scope at 200 yards.
Zero them at 100 yards.

You might double check….Vortex only makes 1 scope in 6.5-20x50, the Viper. According to their site it only comes in MOA.
