Looking at designing a knife specifically for those who run dogs. I’ve never hunted that way. What do you look for in a kill-knife? More of a bowie style? Thinner for stabbing?
Appreciate any input y’all have!

I've always used a Ka-Bar. Make sure you can get an extra sheath for your knife because you will lose it. Make sure it has a good grip that fits your hand even when it gets wet or bloody. Good luck!!

Can never go wrong with a Kbar. Would recommend the cutco hunting knife. The serrations really help get through the hide. Absolute beast of a knife. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/05/full-69876-388327-cutco_knife.png)

Sorry, I should clarify. I'm a knife maker and I'm looking to come up with my own design. This is gives me some good places to look for inspiration though. Ka-bar is a good choice. The Cutco look good as well, although I would personally want a bolster with a finger-guard to ensure my hand doesn't slip onto the blade.

This is one I built for my first dog and knife hunt, worked real well. I did not make the blade but made everything else. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/05/full-26828-388954-pig_sticker_1.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/05/full-26828-388955-pig_sticker_1b.jpg)

I like that one. When I’m stab a hog, I don’t want my hand to slip.

I think the bayonet shape would work nicely
