Just read a review in the Firearms blog. Startling clarity at distance. I was totally impressed. Then I saw the price. $18,000.

The Rico RS75 is the first hunting rifle scope in a 1280 ultra high resolution ever made. It does offer an unbelievable image quality but you're right it comes at a very high price tag. No different than the first color TV's, first cell phones, laptops or flat screen TV's. Someone has to be the early adopter and pay those high prices to forge the way for the new technology to become more affordable for everyone.

This ultra high resolution will become more and more common over the next 5 years and I highly suspect the prices will be falling every year.

But Brother-in-law above is right. You can get amazing image quality in a much less expensive scope....just not 1280 amazing.haha

Im impressed with my Iray Rico Mk1 for about a fourth of that price. I have used the one your talking about and it is amazing but the pricetag is a out of mine as well as most others price range.

The RS75 is impressive. The price is impressive. The weight and size are impressive (not in a good way for those for whom ounces are critical). The image on native magnification is impressive. The ease at which objects go out of focus is a bit impressive as well. This unit seems to be particularly sensitive to focal distance, which means it can make for some very dramatic video, but can be problematic when the targets are changing distance.

I’ve been looking at the Rico MK1 640. And the Alpha. Having a tough time not placing an order.

So what's you guys opinion on this scope

And compare it to the this thermal pulsar thermon xp50 pro

I have used both the Pulsar Pro and IRay Bolt. They are similar in performance to me but I like the IRay better for two reasons.
One is the fact that the external batteries for the IRay are not proprietary and I bought 4 with a charger for 25.00 whereas the Pulsars are over a 100.00 apiece.
Each external battery last about 3-4 hours and popping a new one in is quick and easy.
The other is the ease of magnification changes just rotate the turret like a normal scope dials and your magnification up or down.

You said "external batteries." You can run the Pulsar on an external USB power bank, or the Bolt, nothing proprietary there.

If you mean batteries placed internally, then yes, the Bolt runs on 18650s and the Pulsars are proprietary.

The Bolt TH50-C and the Thermion 2 XP50 Pro aren't a fair comparison since the TH50 is 3.5x and the XP50 is 2x. Those are wildly different and are really for two different styles of hunting. A better comparison is the TH50-C and the Thermion 2 XG50 because the XG50 is 3x. And to be clear, I'm speaking of the Thermion 2 XG50, not the old discontinued XG50.

Both the TH50 and the XG50 have great image quality and are very reliable quality scopes. There are some benefits to the XG50 such as way more and better reticles, more reticle colors, an overall nicer fit and finish and a few other small details. The TH50 has the benefit of the non-propriety removable battery, the 5 year warranty and a very slightly better image quality.

Really informative video. I like the 2x base on the Thermion but everything else would lead me towards the Bolt. I think much depends on your main use of the scope.
