Hello Everyone! I was interested on getting peoples' thoughts on cheap and functional gun rests. Commercial ones seem too stiff and expensive. I saw this great YouTube video demonstrating a DIY one using rice and an old t-shirt. Curious to get peoples thoughts. Thanks! YouTube Link

You can do the same but use plastic pellets, that way any kind of humidity doesnt affect it.

I have several old shot bags filled with rice or beans. Either seems to work well enough.

Best shooter and hunter I ever knew said it best: Consistency leads to accuracy - sight it in using same type of rest and hold on gun that you use when hunting.

Pool noodle with a slit cut down the middle. Fits right over your window and make it whatever length you want.

Sure, practice from a variety of set ups. But, you should really get zero from the most stable rest and position you can to insure all is well with the equipment. How else will you know if you're poor shots are related to the shooter, or hardware?
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Why so complicated? Put sand in a baggy and then put the baggy in a sock.

Trying to figure out a rifle shooting rest for ATV. Think some padded shed 80 PVC in an inverted U hooked to the front rack. Anybody do something like that?

Best shooter and hunter I ever knew said it best: Consistency leads to accuracy - sight it in using same type of rest and hold on gun that you use when hunting. +1 this ^^^^ I help out a good friend on his hunting ranch by guiding hunters for WT, Axis & black-bucks. This is HF blind hunting & every blind has one of those small sand bags that slip onto the edge of the window. I took a few scraps of wood & built a small rest that simulates the same set-up when hunters test their rifles. I have a small screw-driver attached to the rest in case of a turret adjustment. Pic's should be self-explanatory.

Fancier than it needed to be but I like to fiddle around with wood.

The only thing I don't like about the rice and or beans is if the varmints find it in the blind or garage. I used aquarium gravel. Worked great and it's cheap.
