We always called these little doves (Mexican doves).
I haven’t seen one in several years, has anyone else been seeing any?

We were loaded with them 3 seasons ago in a good stand of volunteer sunflowers in northern Brown County. It made dove season a little tricky. Haven't seen one since that time as the sunflowers didn't come back.

I used to see them all the time here around San Angelo, but haven't seen many since the big freeze in 2021

I saw a few at Mason Mtn a few years ago. Hunting there has been pretty bad though.

I seen one in Burleson county this week, first one I’ve seen in years.
They are usually in pairs, the other one could have been close by?

Same here, really thick here before the freeze. Did see one or two pairs last summer, nothing so far now

Don't see em very often here in Killeen. My buddies place out in Lampasas is covered with them. Frequently see them 15 to 20 at a time. Don't ever remember seeing more than a pair or so at once till this past winter.

I shot 3 at a ranch near Mathis just before Covid hit. I don't know if they count toward the limit or not. I gave them to my hunting buddy and after cleaning they were worth the effort.

I thought Inca doves were a protected species. We have several that show up during the warmer months.

“Texas dove hunters may bump into six kinds of doves, but only four of them are legal to shoot — mourning doves, white-winged doves, white-tipped doves and Eurasian collared doves. Inca doves, common ground doves and Band-tailed pigeons are protected.”

Inca’s are my favorite dove. We had a few breeding pairs at my folks old place outside of Temple. Just fantastic little birds. Wish we had them here in Fairfield. We’ve had morning dove and collard eurasian dove only until this winter. This year we had our first white-wings….I was shocked the first time I saw them. Don’t see them daily like the morning and collard but fairly regularly. Would love to see a few Inca’s show up one day.

Haven't seen any yet this year, but usually have a small flock coming to the backyard feeder daily in Deep East Texas.

Some would argue Blue Heron or Spotted Owl.
