I first learned of this incident while reading the current (April) issue of Deer and Deer Hunting magazine and then later found it posted in an online news article. Very interesting but truly believable story.

Makes you wonder if others have a similar story to tell.

Jim Jordan who killed the #1 B&C typical whitetail buck didn't see it for many years later and was not given credit for it until 2 months after he passed away.

I know of it happening in East Texas this year but they were recovered a couple of weeks later.

I'd have outed the taxidermist on every forum I could find.

Back in the late 1960's there was a taxidermist shop in the Clear Lake area which the family and a neighbor had quite a few animals in to be mounted.

Guy closed up and disappeared, all things lost.

Needless to say, if it were not for social media, those antlers would most likely still be on that gun shop wall.

I wonder how many people have killed that buck.

People do crazy things for a game animal. When I was growing up in CO my father had a 6x5 bull elk stolen off a game pole in camp. He was out trying to fill a deer tag and when he returned to camp there were tire tracks where someone backed up to the game pole. Dad's tag was laying on the ground after the thief cut it off. Dad hunted for meat and was all kinds of pissed because that elk would have fed us through the winter.

Great ending.

I want to read the part where he found the local taxidermist drunk at a bar and beat the living [censored] out of him then took out 1/2 page ads in the local paper, Facebook, twitter, insta and every forum in the country telling everyone what happened.

Yeppers and all over something that NEVER should've happened.

Again, this guy would likely still be looking for those antlers had it not been for social media. That in itself makes you wonder if there are others who are now sharing photos of their stolen or lost antlers on social media after hearing of this report.
