My wife lost her parents and we now have some China plates, dishes, etc and some flatware that we would like to sell as we have no need for it.
We dont think its worth much...but its worth something.
Anyone on here know anything about it or could point us in the right direction? If it was up to me, it would go in the trash bins for pick up. (PLEASE dont tell her I said that!)
Thanks for the help and sorry the topic is such a boring one!
Cheers!

Check on E-Bay to see how valuable it could be. Some of that old stuff is worth some money. I broke a lid to an old family piece last month and the price to replace it was $34 dollars. It’s the old trash to treasure thing.

You can go on Ebay and look up sold items and see what they got for them.

Ebay is where my wife goes for replacement pieces. Like you indicated, there is not much value to fine China these days. Millenials and Gen Z don't ask for it as wedding gifts. We have 2 separate sets of China, one being Christmas that gets used once a year. The other set is more traditional and it probably only gets used once a year, as well.

Just went through this with 40 year old made in Japan bone china with the fancy silver/gold lines and all. Perfect shape and full sets, we had a hard time giving it away. You can't put it in the dishwasher so no one wanted it.

I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

About 3 years ago a friend saw this link. https://mymodernmet.com/gesine-hackenberg-ceramic-jewelry/She wanted the same done to pieces of China from her mother. I set up a drill press with a water feed and let her husband start cutting the beads. I also set up a jig for him to drill the holes for stringing the beads. He still cusses me for my help. One if my wife's friends strung the beads into necklaces and bracelets for a lot of family members.

Replacements LTD https://www.replacements.com/services.htmNo idea how much they will pay for items, but I've bought a few pieces from them to replace stuff that was broken or when I wanted to add pieces to a discontinued set.
Thanks, Rich

There are newlyweds created every day. Some of them need stuff like dishes. Ask a charity, a local church, or even a company that organizes estate sales.
In my experience, stuff like that is either worth a lot or nothing.
Pass the gravy.

...pennies on the dollar. Isn't worth anything. I went through this with my mother's China in 2012. Not meaning to be harsh, just sharing the facts. Might be best to give to a friend or relative.

Like they said, it's not as valuable as it once was. When putting the Christmas decoration in the attic, we came across my wife's Grandmothers china. Close to 100 years old and mint condition. Ebay had them listed at $8 a plate. No one in our family wanted it.

We had an auction company come and deal with it all. My mom had a huge collection and the prices that she kept with it , value wise was no where near that this time and date. The guy sold most of it in bundles and did fair in my opinion but considering all the headache of trying to sell it piece by piece and shipping problems and such is was worth it imo

I would get more enjoyment setting them on a plate rack at 100 yards...22LR engaged.
