The neighbor called me to ask if I wanted a hog, since he had 4 in the trap. He’s going into the Temple VA for knee surgery in 48 hours, and he had told me he was not trapping any more hogs for a month or so. Turns out that he had locked open his trap, which still had some corn in it, using a bungee cord. Four hogs went into the trap, fought over the corn, broke the bungee cord and trapped themselves. We skinned em all. Took about 4 hours. We each took a small one and donated the rest to a friend of his. I am whupped.

This was definitely a first for me. Trapped their own selves.

The neighbor and I had both planned to do nothing today. Didn’t work out, but we have young tender pig meat.

Earlier this year, we had one door of the trap open, and one door was not tied open. This pig somehow got himself stuck in the half of the door that was closed. The open door was 12 inches to his left. [Linked Image]
