From the porch to the corn feeder in the yard. The raccoon elimination program begins in earnest tonight. Got the bog pod set up. Put targets out beneath the feeder and fine tuned the scope. The Tikka T1X is amazingly accurate. The coons are in trouble.
And next I’ll use the 223 and go after the coons that frequent the back feeder.
With the hogs gone, it’s the only hunting season I have left.

Going with the 22 LR for the yard feeder. Tomorrow I’ll sight the scope on the 223 for the 40 gr BTs for the back feeder shots (150 yards).
Just had a look under the feeder. No coons, but the neighbor’s wife’s little mutt dog was under there eating corn. Little SOB will eat just about anything. He is a cute little dog though. My neighbor hates the dog and has previously asked me to shoot the dog. I’m not shooting the dog. Ain’t gonna happen.
I did not know dogs ate deer corn.

Get you some Duke's traps they hunt 24x7, small marshmallows or dry cat food is a sure thing. In the morning I put the binoculars on the feeder behind the house (180 yards) and see who has a paw in the trap. A short walk, .22 pistol, reset trap, repete.

I know that y’all have already talked about eating coon/or not but, some years back when the girls were still living with us, I took 3 of them to moms house for the weekend and Saturday morning I got up to make a short squirrel hunt. I ended up killing 3-4 squirrels and one young coon that I shot mostly for my dad and I to eat. Mom asked how I wanted it cooked, and I asked her if she would chicken fry it after she finished with the chickens. I had it already cleaned and cut up so she cooked it. Dad and I went out in the yard to do a little work and when we came in for lunch, the kids had got out of bed and had just about finished eating the coon. Dad and I got one small piece. They asked me to keep bringing them home. We still laugh about this as they had no clue about what they were eating.

You’ve got more pigs and coons than you think. Your only working on the 50 acres surrounding the house!

5 so far. Wife’s mad because buzzards found one in the yard before I did.
