Prefer semi-guided/DIY in Texas. Just a landowner tag and acreage to hunt would be great.

Thanks!

Same here for two people. Texas DIY would be awesome.

I'd give Colorado a look too. Not sure about Kansas they use to be real proud of their goats, pretty stingy on tags. I know Colorado is opening up their big game walk in program in the eastern part of the state to more land. Gmus 112-116 have a sizable population.

your cheapest option is to look for Oklahoma landowners offering archery hunts/leases as they are OTC tags.

Those days are gone.... I first started pronghorn hunting in 1984. Easy back then. No one valued a pronghorn. Now everyone wants a pronghorn.

If you want cheap, easy and fun, go to Wyoming. Lots of pronghorns. Occasional trophy.

If you want a true trophy and are willing to pay for it, go with a prominent guide service in New Mexico.

Any private ranch in NM that has GOOD pronghorn hunting has been leased by a guide for years. Those guides drive around. They talk to people in coffee shops. They live there.... Pay the guide.

Texas panhandle still has some opportunities, but that is fading. Ranches that I hunted on for years, where we only took one buck a year off of 10,000 acres, now has NO huntable population. Landowner now never even sees pronghorns.

West Texas pronghorn population is down. And those ranches are strictly controlled.

Which outfitter has someone used and recommended for a quality pronghorn hunt? I am not looking for a huge trophy just the experience and don't want to pay out the nose for it.

I agree with others. I use to run pronghorn hunts in Texas, and not it is completely commercialized. Tags are going to the highest bidder, landowners are super picky, and TX is probably the most expensive to hunt goats. WY is your best option for DIY. CO is all private or hard to draw for rifle. All the archery hunts on public is hit or miss, mostly private for good chances. NM is getting up there in price and going to be guided. My advice - get a couple points going and do WY, or do a guided NM or CO trip.

Man that thing is huge. Probably the biggest body I've ever seen on a speed goat. Definitely cutters with the most mass. On the farm/ ranching outfit I worked at in Colorado we had some really wide and unique looking ones but about the best thing they had going was taste. No sage and they were pretty much grain fed minus the bind weed they loved to eat and spread across farm ground.

We hunted the TR Ranch in New Mexico east of Raton with Tri-State Outfitters. Saw hundreds on a 3-day hunt. 4 hunters in my group, 2 made B&C minimum. The other 2 were close. I think there were 8 hunters in camp when we were there. Guides were outstanding, food was excellent, facilities were comfortable and clean. It was a great hunt all around. Saw elk, mule deer and TONS of antelope. They aren't cheap, but they have access to great animals.

Tri State does have an excellent reputation and they kill some good animals. The people at the Fish and Game office in Raton speak very highly of Bridger Petrini and his outfit but they are expensive.
