I picked this up from a friend in TX that someone unknown had made or given to his dad. Dad is no longer around to answer any questions.

It's a Smith made blade / high quality no makers mark

Leather work is high quality

Appears to be bone scales

Fairly high count Damascus

Holds a wicked edge

Any idea what/who/worth

My best guess is a old school competition chopper / but it is a lot nicer/fancy than most i find on the net The only difference i see in the newer ones used in competition is the safety lanyard hole. per rules this is just a suggestion. but probably means this was made before that was common.

dimensions are close to competition spec

I would sent those pictures to Lacy Smith from Albama Damascus, it's either one of their blades or it's made in India. India makes a lot of that Birdseye Damascus.

Lacy has a facebook page, I bet he can answer your questions.
