Last week, I picked up a ton of Antlermax from my supplier. Looked at the invoice, took a nitroglycerin pill and wrote a check. After staggering back to my truck, I opened my checkbook again and flipped back a few pages. This same week a year ago, I also bought a ton of the same feed from the same dealer. 50% price increase in 12 months! Now that got me to thinking. Primary ingredient is corn.but when I checked the cash price of corn....19% less than this day last year!

The way things are going these days, I think it's called "because I can get away with it".

We were at 19.89 last year this time....Havnt checked this year.. I found Martindale feeds 20% last week for 15.99...

Price of fuel counters corn reduction + the “I can get away with it” + “maybe charge more to cover lower margins in the future”. You could speculate last years harvest had a delayed impact from the rising cost of fuel. Just my thoughts, but one thing is for certain, it ain’t coming back down anytime soon.

On Feb. 27th 2021, we paid $11.95 per bag

On March 8th, 2022, we paid $12.20 per bag

On March 3rd, 2023, we paid $14.30 per bag

I am showing 17% hike since 22 and nearly 20% since 2021.

We paid $12.50p/b recently for 120 bags.
