The application window for public land big game hunts, in New Mexico, is currently open till March 22 for most big game species BUT for Turkey and Bear the deadline is Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 5 p.m. MST. We are currently making our outfitter number available to hunters, that want to enter the draw this year. If you draw with the outfitter number, state law mandates that you must be guided for the first two-days of your hunt and then can DIY after that. We provide a two-day guided hunt for elk and deer hunts only; the rest of the species are fully guided hunts. Kiowa has been in business for 34 years. We are licensed by
all National Forests in the state,
all BLM districts, The State Land Office, White Sands Missile Range, and State Parks. We have the ability of offering you the opportunity to apply anywhere in the state, that you want to hunt.
WE DO NOT hunt in units 45 and 16B, because they are wilderness areas and it is difficult to do a two-day hunt in a wilderness, due to logistics and time constraints. Most outfitters will be licensed in one to three forests, and they will have you apply only in those areas, removing your ability to hunt elsewhere. The other item that separates us from other outfitters, is that we do not charge for the use of the outfitter number. Recently it has come to our attention, that numerous NM outfitters, not all, are charging for the use of the outfitter number. The small print then tells you that they have you locked in for several years and after that set number of years, if you do not draw, you lose your deposit. We do not do that, no money up front and only after the draw, if you are successful we work on providing you a hunt for the unit that you drew and of a type of hunt that you want.
