I’m from north of Dallas Fort Worth and looking at a place around the Memphis and Lakeview area for a hunting/recreational place. Has good cover and water. Not real familiar with the amount or size of deer in this area. Any help of knowledge would be helpful! Thanks!

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Lots of game out that way and the deer can be huge... more of a midwestern strain of whitetail than the smaller hill country/east Texas varieties. Great numbers of whitetail and good numbers of mule deer, lots of dove, quail, sandhill cranes in the winter, and an occasional turkey and pheasant too. Due to the antler restrictions on muleys, the quality is absolutely getting better too.

Like you mentioned, cover and water are key, but also lots of open pasture out that way that likely will not be as productive.

P.S. No deer in Hall County. smirk

had a buddy on a lease up there several years-I got to hunt hunt it one season myself-big whitetail and Mule deer for sure! I can remember one late summer night we were out spotlighting-just looking!! And I was AMAZED at how many BIG whitetail and Mule deer were scattered about the place!

If you need an extra hunter on the place you are looking at hit me up! I'd love to be up in that area again with some good people
