Little different weapon. I was 7 or 8 years old and was visiting my Papa who let me "hunt" his small place of 30 acres. I was using my home made sling shot using marbles. It was made with a forked stock from a tree, leather shoe toe, and red rubber bands from a old tire tube. While walking the fence line I flushed a covey of quail and hit one in flight and killed it. Proudly I carried it back to the house to show Papa and he said it was time for me to learn how to shoot a gun. He went in and got his Steven's single shot 22 and began teaching me how to shoot it right then. I still have that gun BTW. I was the man of the day as Granny cooked that quail for me that evening for dinner.

Hunting with my grandson when we spotted a turkey way across an open field. He asked if he could shoot it with his .243. There was no way to get closer. I told him it was not possible. He was convinced he could do it. I let him shoot, just to prove him wrong. The turkey fell over dead. I ranged it at 190 yards.

2 amazingly lucky shots with an Encore 22-250

coyote at 425 with significant cross wind sitting on the ground resting the rifle on one knee. I told my buddy "with this wind I am going to hold over his rump." Bang, flop!

sighting this gun in at the 100 yard range and I see a butterfly land on the target near my first two shots. Again, told my buddy "I am fixing to shoot a butterfly" and he says yeah right. Bang, flop. We go check the target at I shot the HEAD off the butterfly!

6 shot, 4" group at 100 yards with a S&W Model 29, 44 mag. Open sights (no scope) off sand bags.

In 1995 I was hunting in Craig on the western slope in Colorado. It was sage brush country very open. Another hunter started shooting at some deer about a mile away and I glassed them and saw they were coming strait toward me. I could see there was a nice buck following several does. They were angling to my right. I was on a small rise and could see them clearly out to 250 yards. They were running at high speed, At about 150 yds I took a standing shoot and missed. There was a deep creek running between me and them about 75 yds away and I decided to get down and shoot from a braced sitting position. When the buck hit the creek bank that was about 40 feet wide he jumped in the air to clear the creek.It was certainly my luckiest shot ever as I hit him in mid air and he collapsed dead in the creek. To put things in prospective I have on 2 occasions emptied a clip on running deer.

More years ago than i would like to remember, was out scouting a hunting area with my trusty Winchester model 190 .22 with a 4 power scope. Several blackbirds were flying high and fast somewhere between 75 and 100 yards out. Not having any better target I gave the first bird a healthy lead and touched a round off. To my surprise the bird dropped like a rock. I retrieved the bird and his head was missing as if it had been removed with a meat cleaver. Yep, pure skill.

The winner so far is the sling shot quail kill.

Bobcat at 273 yards according to the range finder with my 270win using a sapling and my hand as a rest. The cat was facing me and had just popped his head up over a small hill, couldn’t even see is legs. Bullet entered chest cavity and rode around the spine before exiting just in front of his tail.

As Stx and Bobo like to remind me frequently, hit a mule deer 7 out of 9 shots. First shot was off my knee at 170. Did a mule kick like a heart shot but still ran. Once it made it to 230, realized it wasn't going to fall so put 4 more at it. It went into a drainage, so I reloaded and went in after it. Jumped it at 60 yards and emptied the gun into it. I listed it because I was amazed I hit it 7 out of 9...and I was amazed that it took 7 shots to take it down.

350 yards freehand 2 seasons ago, first shot went over his back. the buck stop broadside so i tried again and down he went. i know it was luck but it is what it is lol
this 8 point buck had a inside spread of 23 inches and my personal best so far.

Not an amazing shot but a very good one for me!

Coleman county: 323 yard shot with my Browning 7 mm Mag, Nikon 4X12 X 50 scope with a very hard wind right to left, heavy cloud cover so low light condition in a prone position using a berm from the edge of a wheat field as a rest. Put the cross hairs right in front of her neck top of the shoulder high, bullet hit spun her 360 around, turned out to be a very small doe.

Off handed shooting uphill at a doe @ 350-400 yards. One shot and she came rolling down the hill.
walked up to drag her down to gut her and I'd hit her dead center in the middle of the neck. lmao

My dad, brother, and 2 uncles witnessed the shot. It was absolutely, 100% pure luck and I couldn't do it again for sure.

But, I've killed multiple whitetails out to 400 yards with larger calibers in more accurate guns with handloads and good, solid rests.

Heading back to the cabin after a morning hunt at my buddy’s place in mason, we come across a couple of does. I hop out of the buggy with my shooting sticks and the shorty 6.5 creedmoor and start a stalk on one of the does. I finally get to a spot and get set up waiting for her to clear some brush. Put the crosshairs right above a small window in this mesquite and squeeze the trigger. All I see is splinters go everywhere and the doe flops in her tracks. I didn’t think about the scope height and clipped both limbs of the tree along with another small limb closer to the deer.

I was hunting Himalayan blue sheep in Nepal at 18,000 feet. The winds were at 20 out of the southwest. It was a balmy 36 and we were worried the ice would move on us and leave no return path from our current purch. At about 11 am guide spotted a legal ram. I ranged him at over 900 yards. We glassed the terrain for a way across and finally found a path that would get us to just over 600. It took us three hours to traverse the glacier in those conditions. By the time we got there Temps had fallen and blowing snow had started. We were losing visibility so I decided to take the shot at 634 yards. Now it was a waiting game to see if he would stand before blizzard conditions set in. Finally, about 40 minutes later he stood, turned away and then stepped up on an ice shelf and turned broadside. I made my shot and we saw him fall and slide about 50 yards. There wasn't much time for celebration as we'd already pushed the limit in that weather. We were packing up to go when I glassed him one final time. I noticed he was moving. It was hard to make out but something big was pulling him. Pulling him by his leg...
Just like I'm pulling yours.

Coyote, 207 paces running away downhill in the back of the head. Open sighted 30-30 standing offhand. Three witnesses, at least 9 beers each. Very lucky shot.

Killed a limit of blues in NM. No cover with a 6 month old Brittany finding dead bird. Bird were flushing wild the first day and we only killed a few. Switched to my old F/M Red Label 20. It will cut bird in half if you don’t wait on pointed bird. I killed at least half of the bird at 70+ yards. No B.S. It took a lot of shells, but this was 2015 and we were flushing 50+ coveys a day.

Coyote. About 60 yards on the run from the hip on a quick draw with a Ruger MKII 22 pistol. That is the only coyote I have ever had tanned.

I hunt quail with a 12 gauge Citori, 30 inch barrels full and modified choke,(cause that’s what I bought in sixth grade)that I’ve had since 1976. South Texas brush and one comes zipping right by my ear. I snap a shot off and down he goes.
My buddy says “There won’t be anything to pick up.”
“No I shot his head off.” I said, and damned if I hadn’t.

Hunting south Texas mesquite flats with narrow senderos. Bolt action 308, started with three in the rifle and was able to reload. 5 shots and 5 direct head shots. Craziest experience of my life.

Maybe not my most amazing shot, but a good shot.
While deer hunting from a stand, at first light I spotted a coyote standing right in the middle of the road, he was just standing there and looking my way.
I knew he was 500 yards, so I held over about 4 1/2 ft and took the shot, down he went.
I was super excited; I called my brother, and he showed up to drive me out to my snipered coyote.
When we got there, the coyote was dead, the shot was spot on... and he was caught in a foot trap. Our trapper had been setting traps for coyotes and had set one right in the middle of the road.
It was a canned hunt and I didn't know it. I called the trapper and told him that I had shot his coyote for him. He enjoyed the story and said the ears were still his
