I just got a Pulsar Thermion 2 - LRF XG50. I want to mount it on my 700 in .22-250. Problem is, I cant tell the tube size. Can someone help me with the correct size, and maybe any mount/ring set ups y’all might recommend? Thank You.

I would bet the tube diameter is stated on their website or any website that sells them. Lots of good rings out there. Nightforce, Hawkins, to name a few.

And you can get some 1/32" calipers at Lowes or Home Depot for about $15

The Thermion series is a 30mm tube. Height of the rings is dependent on type of base. If a picatinny base will be used, Seekins med-high rings will work, mediums might work. My Thermion has a fat front end, similar in size of a typical 56mm obj.

All Pulsar Thermions are a 30mm tube. We only use and sell the American Defense QD mounts and you'll need them in a standard height. Rhutch is right though, different manufacturers will have different heights so "medium", "standard", "high" etc mean nothing across other brands.

This is the mount we've used since the Thermions were released in 2019.

And it is maddening!

Also, some manufacturers measure from scope base to bottom of tube, others measure from scope base to center of tube.

bang

Exactly! I can't tell you how many times I've had to explain to folks that they just can't go out and buy a "Medium" height ring and call it good. And then when the measurement methods come into play like you mentioned..... hammer

Maybe we need to come up with an email to send to all ring manufacturers. Get some things standardized.

Why is this so difficult?

A 1/2" socket will fit a 1/2" hex bolt, no matter who made the socket or who made the hex bolt.

Been there too.

I find it good to find a local retailer who will allow me to exchange. I also have bought two sets and returned the one I didn't want. On this one I was sent a Return label. VERY painless.

These were all fairly higher quality rings, Nightforce Ultralights and Seekins.

bases and barrel contour just make guessing the only way unless used on a previous rifle.

Please work on the barrel manufacturers after you fix the ring issue wink

Yeah, you're right.

Everyone calls their contours differently.

Why?
