On March 24, the final two remaining Walmart stores in Portland, Oregon, will close. The company stated they are closing the stores due to the locations not meeting financial expectations. When your city refuses to stop shoplifters this is what happens. Good for Wamart.

my wife is in portland 3x-4x a year. Last 5 years the city has progressively gotten worse. Between tent cities and non-prosecution of crime, working residents are leaving at massive rates.

I am surprised that the crazy liberal politicians aren't trying to sue Walmart for some kind of discrimination BS relating to their closing the stores.

Sad what they’ve let happen to some of our cities. All the crime… people living and crapping in the streets… it’s like a third world country in a lot of them.

In November I had a six or eight hour layover at the Portland airport so I grabbed a rental car and drove around the town. Talk about a train wreck. All of the cliches about people crapping on the street or leaving needles everywhere or druggies dying on the street corner are true.

It's harder to bring a county up than to bring it down. So, we're being brought down to the level of other countries... you know, cuz, equity and stuff.

It’s coming here, too. One of my neighbor’s security cameras caught film of someone walking along the side of their house last week. Other cameras in the hood showed the same person walking down the street checking for unlocked cars.

First neighbor got worried that person was casing their house, so they checked the side yard the following morning and found a giant turd between their ac units. barf

Same thing they’re doing in the public schools.

Heard someone say a few years back that he was going to fundamentally change this country. Working well for him. realmad

Oregon is a cesspool. I’m surprised more businesses aren’t bailing out.

That's the end result and the intent of progressive policies. Government wants to break the system so badly that people will beg for them to take on more power to solve the problems that they have caused.

It's here. I am a dealer in an antique/vintage/mercantile type store. Just last week had a known homeless man steal a large vintage purse that was hanging on a wall, then fill it with merchandise around the store and leave. We have him on security video. A big man, so the ladies there can't stop him if they tried. It was the third time the same man hit us, so they did not call the police because last time they did not show. And time before that they caught him outside the door, but then the officer with him LET HIM LEAVE WITH OUR STUFF while another officer interviewed the clerks. The theft was under the amount required to be able to arrest him and they will not make a report. Plan next time was to at least get the police to document a trespassing warning so the ladies that work there including my wife could call and have him arrested for trespassing without having to interact with him. He did show up again checking cars outside, police called. Three hours later at closing the police still had not showed up. At least he did not make it inside the store that time. They watched to lock the door if he came near. This is Carrollton BTW.

The Service Merchandise model may make a comeback. That would suck

Walmart executives wanted Trump out and the looney democrats in.
They got their wishes.
That’s why I don’t do a lot of business with them.

I’m in Portland/Vancouver 8-10 times a year. Definitely a dump!

The legalization of drugs will do that.

My question is, what is the end game? Are the Democrats intentionally destroying cities to drive away people and drop property values so they can buy it all up for pennies on the dollar, then take a strong stance against the crime?

Well, Portland is the second town to run Walmart out of town due to theft. Second only to Robstown.

Maybe I'm trying to rationalize irrational thought processes, but I don't see how driving away your tax base makes any sense.
