When I advertise hunts, I get quite a few tire kickers and I do expect this. However, it seems to be the norm now days that after numerous exchanges with information regarding a hunt and booking procedure, the interested party wants to start negotiating prices and requesting discounts. I am straightforward with pricing and believe it to be fair and inline with the market. Is this negotiation process getting to be the norm. I wonder if the grocery store or doctor’s office is open to negotiations. Rant over. Thank you for reading.

After 31 years in the business, volume on some items can absolutely get you a better price. All you got to do is ask. I wouldn`t negotiate with my doctor at all. He was a high school friend that I set up with my cousin and then he married her. Hasn`t charged me a dime in 20 years. So, yes. Just about everything is negotiable. If not, just say no. Like Nancy Reagan.

I sell a few hunts on THF also, I never really had that issue. I've had a few over the years ask and I've always told them the price is non negotiable, it's never been a deal breaker that I know of, but I am usually selling inexpensive hunts. You might try adding "price is non-negotiable" on your post.

When you advertise your hunts just add that "price is not negotiable" - problem solved

"Numerous exchanges with information" is quite common with me. Some book a day, some do not. Just the way it is.
Price negotiation has never happened. As was said, "price is not negotiable" might be what you need to add.

Everybody wants a better price. When new prospective clients don't know you or your business the one thing they know is price. Most people (IME) are simply asking. But there is a smaller group of callers who exist to beat the money out of you and if they do the hunt they will only complain. The trick is not to blow out the former in protecting yourself from the latter. There are any number of ways to deal with this. One of them is to raise your prices some to lessen the problem customers from even calling. Another is to represent yourself as proudly providing the best value for the dollars spent. That's what clients will remember anyway.
Just my 2 cents but I would work hard to avoid the super cheapskate complaining clients.
Just an opinion from a nobody.

It could be due to the fact at most shows/conventions (SCI, DSC etc) they typically are running “show specials”. Some may assume that carries over to “everything hunting” but it obviously doesn’t. As said above, state “price non-negotiable” in the listing.

In the hunting world, price negotiations are not uncommon, especially overseas
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Just an opinion from a nobody. Agree completely. You carry no obligation to do business with everyone who contacts you. Requesting a lower price can be a good indication they're probably someone with whom you should refuse to offer whatever you're selling. IMO, commodities where there is little or no differentiation between services is where negotiation is more appropriate.

I haggle for everything. Sure saved a lot of money over the years. Bet you would have enjoyed city council haggling over your salary "to save a lot of money".

If I offer to sell something, I figure out what I want and say so. That’s final.
If I’m buying, I figure the seller knows what he wants. If I don’t like it, I don’t call.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Grocery stores and doctors services are up for negotiation. Just hold firm on your price or as suggested "non-negotiable", "firm" in your description.
Thanks for posting your services.

I’m about the same. I do always ask what the cash price is too. That’s how I pay for everything in person and have saved a fair amount of money with that too.

I can tell you there are plenty of people who want to negotiate at the doctors office. i know what my services are worth and what my costs of goods are. I set my pricing (on what i can) accordingly.

"In real life as in business, you don't get what you deserve, you get what you negotiate." Yep, I've negotiated with plenty of folks for dental work, I have no problem with it. And that saying is so true. I haggle for everything. Sure saved a lot of money over the years. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. I love to haggle. I will not haggle with friends that own their own company though. Same, and agree 100%.
