We have been in the area all week. First time venturing here. Nice get away. Some of the places we have been to: Gruene Hall-cool venue to drink a beer and listen to live music. For eats Gristmill is good. Right along the Guadalupe. I had the chicken fry. Very good, smaller and thicker in diameter but not all crust as most. Richters Antlers Cafe-wife had the fried catfish, I had the grilled pork chops. Very good and pricing imo is well below other restaurants. We would come back. The Screaming Goat- cool laid back venue. We saw Mark Odom and he was good. Had a few drinks and you gotta have the soft pretzel. Richters and the Goat are across the street from one another in Dripping Springs. Granny Ds- around by the main part of the lake. Excellent breakfast. Omelets are huge as well as they’re bigger than plate pancakes. It gets packed even on weekdays. Be patient or don’t come by. Them ladies are going as fast as they can. I would come back.
EDIT:I should say I have been to Gruene Hall several times. It keeps me coming back. Also went to the shops with my wife and got a few adult refreshments at the Wine place there by the courtyard aka The Grapevine. Live music was going and in the hall we later saw Bret Graham, he was good.
See ya on the next one…

See ya on the next one… Good report, next time I go there the Antlers Cafe and Screaming Goat will be a must do I have a buddy that lives a few blocks off the lake and enjoy going down there, last time we went to Hays City Store outside of Driftwood. good food, atmosphere and scenic drive. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/02/full-1274-381991-img_7164.jpg) Also listened to some tunes in Gruene at The Grapevine.

I have been to Driftwood more so the Salt Lick BBQ. It was ok, not the best bbq I ever had. Just one of those places you have to say you have been there.

Buddy of mine lived and worked in Austin for 40 + years, we went to the Salt Lick twice back in the 80's, back then you were driving out into the sticks to get there, it was pretty darn good BBQ back then. .
