I got talked into providing an archery hunt for javelinas in March.

I think I should provide a broadhead target for these guys to shoot their bows.

What targets do yall prefer? Will those Block targets from academy do?

I have used the bone collector broadhead targets rated for crossbows and the Blackout branded version of The Block. Either of them work fine for some target shooting and verifying the bow is on.

The bone collector target seems to reseal better, but The Block has a lot more stopping power.

I shoot a bow that is making 80 pounds + kinetic energy at my draw and I have used 700 grain arrows, also 390 grain arrows. Either of them will stop those arrows without damaging broadheads or without even dulling them.

If you shoot mechaniclas you’re gonna have to disassemble them and clean out all the foam and crud in the ferrules to close them back up properly.

I agree. They really should bring their own. Anytime I've bow hunted with a guide I brought my own target. If they had one it was usually pretty well worn.

I have a Rhinehart and it’s pretty great.

I got a Matrix on Bobos advice and it’s great except with a xbow and broad heads it’s almost impossible to push/pull them out.

I’m shooting mechanicals at 25 yards and the xbow buries em pretty deep. I definitely push them through and then take head off. I use a good bit of quality lube also. I have to put all my weight on it to push through and still very hard.
I still like it enough to consider a second target for broad heads and I mostly shoot field points.

ya ive been impressed with mine, only target i havent been able to shoot out in a year.

I was trying to break in new bow last year and I had 400 10 yard shoots in a week. it can get a little tough on deep arrows.

I picked up one of them little 15” Rinehart 18-1 targets on the recommendations in this post. I sure do appreciate it. Best I have used so far.

Little 15” target is way better than a Blackout rebranded Block, and beats the bone collector crossbow target by a mile. Arrows do not protrude out the back at all. That’s a first with my current bow and arrow. Also no weird sticky residue on the shafts and not too hard to pull them.
