I plan to get out in stands more next season and enlarge feeder pens hoping to generate more feeding activity. What regrets or corrections do you intend to make for next season???

Only "regret" maybe is not shooting earlier in the season. But I say that just about every year...

I'm going to put in 2/3 food plots in our new place. Also, I'll be placing cameras on every deer trail I can find to determine what deer are moving where. If a target deer is discovered I'll be hunting his travel pattern and not any feeders. Last year larger deer didn't visit the feeders. Removing cedar trees is a never ending battle and I'll be giving them h*ll. This year will be fun because I'll be able to get my over 65 and a disabled Vet lifetime hunting license whice let's me hunt archery, muzzle loader and rifle season here in Oklahoma. Can't wait.

Not putting in/having a food plot. Which we had extreme drouth conditions in our area when it was time to plant oats and nobody’s oat crop around us did any good, too hot and dry where we were. Deer numbers at the house were drastically down without oats.
I don’t regret not planting oats though, they wouldn’t have done anything, but going forward whenever viable I will have a food plot.

NONE: I bought a new place, put up new stands and feeders, put in a food plot, and took my three grandsons deer hunting for their first time. All three got a deer. I've posted this photo before but just so proud of them. This summer I'm putting in two more food plots and one more stand. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2023/02/full-54614-381977-img_3056.jpg)

Should have gone dove hunting on opening weekend. Should have duck hunted earlier in the season. Should have let that arrow fly on the big 8. I had him dead, but let him walk because I wanted the big 10 that was on camera. Finally saw the big 10 on the very last hunt of the season. Let him walk too because he looked younger in person and I figured if he made it through the whole season, he'd be better next year.

And you got to keep hunting the rest of the season. Ive never had regrets passing a buck. I would tend to have more regrets pulling the trigger too early.

More of a correction. I have no regrets when it comes to hunting. His rack wasn't stupendous, but he looked more like a small cow than a big buck. His body was MASSIVE. He would have been my biggest bow buck though. I've passed on quite a few bucks during bow season over the last few years that would have been my biggest bow buck, but not my biggest buck. Even if I pull the trigger on a big buck early, I have 3 places to hunt, so I'll always have an opportunity to keep hunting bucks, and does, and pigs, and coyotes.

I gotcha, makes sense, duly noted.

I really need to improve my Rain Dance. The lack of rain for the first two thirds of last year really hurt us.

Getting to hunt past the first week of the season is my plan, the upside is we had several really big deer survive and hopefully they add some extra bone this year.

I regret hunting all but 1 weekend of the season, eating so many ribeyes w potato and salid, using both my new to me rifles and scopes while riding around the ranch in my newley rebuilt xterra I bought from a guy on here, also Im really ashamed of myself for all the naps I took when I could have been in one of my tripods working on my tan. On the positive side Im proud that I put and extra cottenseed basket in each of my feed pens , reversing the trail markers our friends from the south leave so their buddies can find there way to town, usually its a bottle with the lid pointing the way towards town

No regrets. This is the first time since 1999 that I didnt take a deer but had plenty of chances. I knew going into this past season there was only one buck on my radar and there was a good chance old age was going to catch up to him before I did and I believe that is what happend because he never showed up and never got a pic of him.
Saw several mature deer but wanted to see them grow another year since we had really poor horns last year. Those bucks ended up getting shot anyway but thats the way it goes on our lease. I really dont expect to kill one this year either.
