By 'we,' you mean Texas? Not likely. First and foremost, these are not giant or super pigs. The adults typically weigh 120-250 lbs, surprisingly similar to Texas hogs. https://agbio.usask.ca/news/2019/05...-for-agriculture-and-the-environment.phpCrossbred pigs? Are there any that are not? Even the ferals and domestics in Europe will breed with Wild Boar and have been for hundreds of years, if not many thousands of years (given that hogs were domesticated in Europe and Asia 8-10k years ago). If you really want to watch some top notch spin doctoring on feral hogs in the US (and many parts of the world), try to find some full episodes of the Pig Bomb from the Discovery Channel. This is from about 14 years ago. Between the the embellishments, misrepresentations, and outright lies, you would think we were in the apocalypse. Here is a brief teaser. It is short, but see how many misstatements you can find...

They are the only animal that I kill without provocation. The ones on my place are loaded with ticks. When I trap or shoot one, I spray down with insecticide. Then drag it off and burn it.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

Don't know if I'm buying the article, but Canadian Super Hogs is a pretty good band name.

These people writing the articles really need to get out more.... I read a similar article last year, and now this years article has really exploded across the internet. Seems to me these are the same hogs we have in texas, the only difference is the northern liberals found out about them and are freaking out.

"Things like this are only a problem in my backyard, not in yours." NIMBY is a very real issue when it comes to change in society due to changes in situational context. Everybody is guilty of it to some extent, I think. We all love bacon and porkchops, by nobody wants a pig farm next door. We all love electricity, but most certainly don't want power towers, powerstations on our property. We love oil and gas, but unless we own the mineral rights and make money from it, nobody wants oil and gas wells on their property. We all love to throw away garbage, but nobody wants the new landfill next door.

To paraphrase Shakespeare: first, shoot all Canadians...hogs that is.

OMG! "Feral hog" attack in North Dakota, could be a Canadian Super Pig. Authorities warn of wild, violent pigs in the area. Here is where the ridiculousness of the Canadian Super Pigs really starts to show... https://www.valleynewslive.com/2023/04/14/wild-dangerous-pig-attacks-farmer-north-dakota/Sadly, very little about any sort of actual attack, only that it attacked the farmer several times, which seems rather odd. However, they got the Canadian Super Pig mojo working to pander to the masses. The hog looks like a first gen domestic, though it does look large, not particularly large, just looks like a normal big old domestic boar. Turns out, this Canadian Super Pig is just an escaped domestic hog. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sp...out-to-be-domestic-escapee-and-not-feral

I hate to judge before all the facts are in, but it would appear that we must seriously entertain the possibility that not everything presented on social media is always true.

We all love to throw away garbage, but nobody wants the new landfill next door. Those are slightly different issues. I don't want a landfill put in next door to my house and I have every right to oppose it. It's the folks who buy property next to a landfill, or a shooting range, or an airport---priced accordingly, and then attempt to push them out via the courts. That may be a subject best left to the Off Topic section...but, people who use those tactics ARE pigs!
