Thanks for the info. Too brushy for my needs. It’s a little further west than the original description.

For that money I can take someone to shoot a 140-175” deer plus a couple does and possibly some pigs!

3 or 4 months to hunt vs 3 or 4 days. Not a tough choice for me but everyone’s different.

At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

It’s actually 5 months deer season with the MLD.

agree - I enjoy the entire lease process like you do Freerange - the off season work, the shed hunting, and 4 months to get to hunt and have a place to go in the outdoors - package hunts can be fun too but picking between the two easy IMO

This shouldn’t be that hard to understand. Looking at the bucks on my wall, I know it took a little more than just writing a check and those experiences have been golden. My deer lease is akin to others’ country club, competition Bar BQ trailer, hot rod, bass boat and/or etc….

I would infinitely rather being on a year round lease than spend similar money for a hunt in a blind with a guide over a weekend that points at which buck I can shoot for X amount of dollars..
hard pass, even if the guided hunt produces a better buck..

@Hudbone, ccoker, tlk: Agree It's a year long adventure with highs and lows. Hard work and some fun. Then deer season gets here and we're executing a plan we been working on all year. Every second I'm with my rifle while hunting is exciting because I know in the next second something really good could happen.

I agree with that aspect of it. Some people don’t have the time to put into a lease, and there’s plenty of lease guys that only hunt one or two weekends a year. Some people look at a lease price and don’t include stand/ feeder/ feed/ up keep/ fuel and time every other month.
For some people guided hunts are better for them, others enjoy the work and and the extended time rewards that. Nothing wrong either way in my mind.

Sure. I went on a guided Elk hunt in Colorado 30 years ago, didn't kill but had an awesome time. The guide only provided us shot opportunities on public land with his great calling ability and pack out if we were successful. I had never Elk hunted and wanted to learn a few things. 3 out of 4 of us killed bulls.

I have been on many guided and unguided hunts - love doing that too. But if I had to choose between that and a lease I would choose the lease because of reasons stated above - nothing right or wrong about either - hunters choice

Personally, I see an out of state Elk hunt a lot different than hunting whitetails in Texas..
Probably goes to experience or lack of for a given type of hunt..
I would definitely want to do a guided Elk hunt having never done it and the thought of taking all that time, effort and money to go on a completely blind public lands hunt doesn't seem well advised.
