So I bought 1 bottle, just to see. The label makes it sound like when you open this bottle, it's gonna rock your sinuses. 'Not that impressive. What'd y'all think is in it? 'Seems like they like plane ol' diesel just as much.

I also saw, for the first time in a while, Googlin' "pig bait", there was something about Anise. Walmart had a $4&change bottle of extract that I bought. Now I can smell that stuff! We'll see...

Fish also are attracted to anise oil. I've used vanilla extract over corn with decent results.

People have this belief that if the smell is stronger, it will attract more hogs, bigger hogs, hogs from greater distances and companies like to play up on this belief. However, it is completely without any justification what-so-ever.

Yep, hogs will come to it, anise, vanilla, chocolate, fish heads, rotting cow carcass, slop, rotting hog carcass, Coke, Big Red, beer, wine, diesel, corn (had to include it), apples, watermelon, and various other fruits and vegetables (except pumpkin), leftover sandwich ham, etc.

Yeah, they'll eat about anything. While training at the CMTC in Germany, we used to leave out open T-Rats of Ham Slice for the hogs during the night. Without fail, the tray was clean as a whistle every morning. Filthy cannibals.

I do realize they'll eat anything, including themselves. That's why they're so prolific in just about anywhere except a true desert. I'm just still searching for a bait that will disgust deer (to keep them out of the traps) and pull pigs in like they're on a string. In drought, I've trapped deer accidentally with corn and...diesel. bang

We killed several hogs over a horse carcass. I don't think deer would be attracted to one.

Way back in the 80's moved to Texas and went on my first hog hunt with my bro. We went to a place that had been a drive through safari experience. Well it was liquidating the talent prior to shutting down.

We find the hog herd, get out, each shoot one (boar and sow). Gut them both and then the guide and bro go to get the truck. I'm standing there and the herd....is coming back....and they proceed to eat both guts piles leaving just the nuts from the boar. I'm literally standing over them as they hoover all that good protein up. took maybe 5 minutes....And yes I was nervous, 357 was out and available.

Guide told a bunch of stories, one of the pigs would get in the pond and walk around and FOOM, go under and pull up a catfish....Hawg Noodling.
