“Olds” ? These new artists couldn’t carry Johnny Cash or Alan Jackson’s jockstrap.

People are always gonna argue about music; always have, always will.

I'll tell you one thing - I am always amazed at how often and everywhere I still hear the music that came out when I was in high school, and before, being played (graduated 1978), and I see 20-somethings singing along and bopping to the music. Call us "olds" all you want - we grew up and "came of age" during a fantastic time in music. You poor, young bastards. grin

you grew up in probably the best time in music.....but people always bring up "willie, waylon and merle".

Lets talk about Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, Gordon Lightfoot, Bob Dylan....so many fantastic artists besides some burnout "outlaw" country artists.

And yes, I'm aware this post may cause some on here to throw their Pearl Light can at the computer screen

I love classic rock and still listen to it often. It prob one of my favorite genres. Thing is most those cats are old as hell now and wouldn’t come close to how they use to perform if they were performing in the Super Bowl now days. Hell I’d love to see Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin in person back in the 70s.

Maybe if I listened to Country on the radio these days, I might find some singers I like. Same maybe with today’s rock and roll, if such a thing exists. But I never have the radio on any more. It was on full time when I commuted to work in Houston, where there was a bazillion radio stations.

In the past 10 years I’ve seen Heart, Def Leppard, Foreigner , .38 special, Styx perform. They all were fantastic. Saw Bush play last year and it was amazing. One of the best concerts I’ve ever seen

I seen Styx open for Aerosmith prob 15 yrs ago and both were great. Didn’t know they played the song for “That 70s show” until they played it that night lol. Second time I seen Aerosmith they were terrible which was prob 2007ish. Tom Petty put on a hell of a show too.

Glad I'm one of those olds. I know most of you other olds agree with me.

So happy to have experienced when in God We Trust, liberty, freedom, 16 track analog recording, tube amplification and musicianship, class, taste and good sense ran wild.

Well, if you turn on those groups with your boombox at the Graham Livestock Sale; I’m going to have to protect you from all the harassment. Real Texas Cowboys

Real cowboys shouldn’t have time for any music right? Too busy tending, choring, and the likes

rofl you gots to be trolling.

I didn't watch the game nor the halftime show. Not a fan of Rihanna, regardless like Sapper said turn on the radio in the last decade and you've probably heard all the songs played.

Maybe you and Sapper should compare resumes to see which one is the real hardcore man up. Hint, it isn't you.

“Sticks” what in the world, the only stick I had was a slingshot made with inner tubes and willows. And as to some group being Deaf; how can they hear their songs? And I sure ain’t listening to some Foreigner; heck we got enough with the border problem. Give me some Cash; I can relate to that.

So you can relate to drug abuse, alcoholism, and being a horrible husband and father?

I was just a wee lad, and even if I'd been "of age", my father would have stroked out if I'd told him I was going. 'Still would have liked to hear some of it though.
