Anyone remember Penny Whistle Park in Dallas?? It was a indoor amusement park for young kids.

In the early 80's when I was probably 4-5 years old my Grandpaw would take me and my brother there when we would visit him. Earlier today me and Dad were out running some errands and we came to the intersection where it use to be and Dad asked me if I knew what use to be right there as he pointed towards the building. It was the first time I have been to that intersection in close to 40 years but it all came back to me and I said "I am pretty sure that building use to be Penny Whistle Park. Just as I said that I looked up and there was still a rusted metal sign above the entrance to the parking lot that read "Welcome to Penny Whistle Park". I was shocked that I was able to recognize the intersection after all these years, but even more shocked that there was even a trace of evidence left of what use to be after all these years.

I remember it but never went to it. I thought it was off of Garland Rd not on North West Hwy. I go by there often and have never noticed the sign I’ll look for it next time I go by.

Here’s another for those of us a bit older…..Storybook Land on 183. Only lasted a few years, but fairy tale buildings, animals, and such.

How about pipe organ pizza with the slide or sandy lake park with the big high dive? Good times!

Indoor soccer place now. I think the firewood place in the back has closed up.

I remember PWP vividly. We were there once for my younger brothers birthday party. Another kid got hurt and injured pretty bad on one of the rides. An ambulance was called and they carted him off. We never went back again after that.

Grew up two blocks away. Folks still live over there.

Made quite a few trips. North West Highway looks quite different after they sold the driving range across the street.

Wet N Wild was down just a few blocks.

And about 2 years ago another child hood staple White Rock Skating Rink closed down as well.

I remember going there maybe once when visiting my cousins. My aunt lives in the 3900 block of Barnes Bridge Rd.

I remember the commercials more than the place itself. It's pretty close to the old Lone Star Cadillac. Looks like I just drove right by the old place Friday when I had lunch with my uncle at Chubby's on E NW HWY. GM training center is right around the corner and I had class.

Pass the gravy.

2600 block here. Used to walk down to Shiloh Road and where all the Fox&Jacobs homes are was several hundred acres of fields. Friend and I hunted rabbits and set traps there. Back in mid 1960’s.
