I picked up a savage super sporter model 45 in 250-3000. It’s a cool rifle and pretty cool to read about it. It has a very low serial number 5 digit that starts with 10. The only info I can find is that it was made around 1930’s. I found dies and read that you can use 22-250 brass. I have loaded some but haven’t shot it yet. Thought y’all might wanna see pics and maybe somebody knows if a site where I can find info about it. I have searched and just been able to find a little bit about it.
I once drank muddy water out of a hoof print and was dang glad to get it.
Best guy in this forum to ask is Colt45 (Kenny) he is a Savage guy. The best site to go to is 24hrcampfire they have a section dedicated to Savage rifles . I have a Savage model 40 in 250/3000 that was drilled and tapped for scope. Enjoy those old rifles
Very nice acquisition. I wonder if the twist is 1:14 as it was in the Savage Model 99s until the 1950s. I owned a basket case Model 1920 years ago and wish I had followed through on its rehabilitation.

Wow 1920 is a very sleek gun I wish I would have never sold mine also. It had a cracked stock at the wrist.

I need to figure out a way to clone the old Winchester Silvertip 100gr ammo for my Ruger M77 in .250. It will stack them tight at 100 yards. The old man who gave it to my dad gave him 3 boxes of ammo from the 80s with it, and I'm almost out of that ammo.

Very nice AND you have the detachable magazine for it! (don't lose it they are hard to find lol)
I have the lesser grade model 40 in 30-30
As previously mentioned, the guys on 24hrcampfire.com have a pretty active Savage group, also SavageShooters.com has a vintage Savage group that has a few discussions on the 40/45
Looks like it'll cycle extra smooth. .250 Savage looks a lot like 6.5 Grendel on paper. I know one of those works great on deer so the other should too.
