Two to three hour hunt in morning; two to three in evening; done deal. I guess it varies with each man’s prostate. I’ve ridden with guys in a car who could go easy 8 to 10 hours without pee stop. “A man’s got to know his limitations.”

Pee when you just have to. Many years ago, I was sitting up in a very large oak tree in a grown up field. Tree was several feet diameter and grew upwards leaning out as it rose. Could almost just walk up it after the intial 10' where it started to lay out. Was standing take piss from about 30' up and no joke, big 8 point walked right under (have no idea where he came from) got sprayed, trotted out from under tree, I reached for rife and bang flop. been peeing when nature calls in stands, off tripods, ground blinds ever since if I have just can't hold it anymore.

I'll pee in a Gatorade bottle in the blind and pour it out when I leave that sit. My wife, on the other hand, will do #1 and #2 just about every sit! We keep a small shovel at both blinds just for her! It annoys me, but we just about always have deer anyways.

If I’m going to spend time, money, effort, etc. into a few hunts to shoot the Buck of a lifetime; I’m going to pee way before I get to the stand. Every advantage; I move to my side of the chart. ^^^This is kind of how I think about a lot of hunting habits. I don’t think it makes much difference most of the time but I’m not certain so if it’s easy enough to err on side of caution I will. you sit in a stand ALL day long - how you gonna do this? You can take about anything to stand to pee in like a Gatorade bottle. I use this. Takes up less space and less noise. Rinse and repeat.

Why are the deer afraid of human scent, but not human pee scent? If you are down wind and they smell you, they are gone. I actually saw a program on Discovery or some such channel talking about exactly this. It turns out that when you do a chemical breakdown of urine there isn't very much difference between most mammals.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

There have been studies done with respect to deer reaction to human urine and in fact there is no evidence that it has a detrimental impact on sightings,
Human urine: attract or deter?
Few studies have been done on the effects of human urine on whitetails. Several years ago, Kroll and then-graduate student Ben Koerth used trail cameras to monitor mock scrapes treated with commercial buck urine, doe-in-heat urine, human urine and new car smell (which they got from a car wash). The researchers ran each test site for two weeks, 24 hours a day. They carefully recorded how many deer came to each site, and how many times. They also noted the type of deer visiting each site (buck, doe, fawn) and estimated its age.
To say the least, what they found was underwhelming.
“Deer of all ages and sexes came to every one of the treatment sites,” explained Kroll. “We found no statistical difference in the number of deer, or type of deer, that came to any one of the treatments. The average number of times a particular deer came to a treatment site was once, and over 90 percent of all visitations were nocturnal.”
Kroll and Koerth concluded that, when it comes to pee, a deer’s natural curiosity explains its behavior. “For their survival, it’s necessary for deer to be curious and know everything that’s going in their home range,” Kroll said.
What’s interesting is that, although not statistically relevant, both the buck urine and human urine outperformed doe-in-estrus urine.
In spite of my awareness of this and other studies I still refrain from peeing where I hunt!!!!!!!!!!

They don't care. As I'm pumping a good bit of coffee into my veins on morning hunts and drinking a lot of fluids in the afternoon, I have to go quite frequently.
In a box blind, I keep gatorade bottles in the stand to reduce noise associated with opening doors, etc. In a climber or ladder stand, I let it fly, but typically try to hit an adjacent tree to again, reduce noise of urine hitting dry leaves from 20 feet up.

I remember reading humans don’t secrete scent in urine the way other animals do. Can someone verify with an authentic source?

Turkey Hunter; you ever been in a Allsups? Bucees will spoil you. The younger generation just doesn’t know how nasty gas station restrooms used to be.

Try using the restroom in the Allsups in Ozona at the end of a busy weekend and get back to me. Sunday evening after Thanksgiving is best. Oil field + hunters + national traffic passing through.

I remember reading humans don’t secrete scent in urine the way other animals do. Can someone verify with an authentic source? Until you eat asparagus! If I drink coffee or eat asparagus, I can immediately smell the difference. To answer the original question: I routinely pee out of deer stands, and it's never seemed to bother any of the deer. In fact, I've done it with deer at the feeder less than 100 yards away and they don't even pay any attention to it. A buddy of mine used to regularly get out of his stand to take a dump, and he'd end up shooting the best deer of the season. Then again, there are some deer that seem afraid of their own shadow.

Turkey Hunter; you ever been in a Allsups? Of course many times. Stale urine smell created by bacteria is different than actual human scent. General pee smell is not the same as scent created by phermones. But a bit of recent research online leads me to believe we secrete scent in our urine but not as much as territory marking animals.
To be determined

Doesn't seem to make a difference.
If I can avoid peeing where I'm hunting, I do. If I'm up in a saddle (which I usually am), I let it fly from 20' up. I've seen deer (bucks and does) within minutes of relieving myself.
Of course this is all anecdotal. Maybe I'd see twice as many deer if I wasn't peeing everywhere. I like to stay hydrated though.

I'm 54 and use to bowhunt with self bows I made. I was curious about this very thing 20 years ago. I don't think there is an individual who knows more about whitetail deer than James Kroll, and I don't think there is an individual who knows as much or more about hunting mature bucks than Gene/Barry Wensal....the Wensal brothers. They all 3 have said human piss doesn't matter. Gene and Barry piss right off the stand (mind you, bowhunting not rifle)
I've taken that knowledge to my bowhunting stand for over 20 years and guess what....IT DOES NOT MATTER TO THE DEER
But I guess it can bother you.
