My most prized material possession is my Bible In this pic it is opened to the book of Romans, my favorite book of the Bible. My S&W 686 was the first nice revolver I ever owned. I bought it in my early 20s I had to sell it years later to help pay some medical bills, from when my wife was so sick. I sold it to a man who was a father figure in my life. 40 years later, ( he is now 95 ) he gifted it back to me a few years ago when I was going through Leukemia and a bone marrow transplant. My grandfathers Norlund camp axe. When I got it from my fathers estate, it was in bad shape. I cleaned it up and found a handle that fit it correctly and got the axe back up to useable condition. The knife was made by one of our resident knife makers, from a file that belonged to my grandfather. We found a bunch of well worn files in my grandfather’s shop when were cleaning it out. I had 4 matching knives made. Our dog Jessy. She cost me a $100 donation to "Pets-Alive" in SA 7 years ago. It's our 3rd dog together. A dog's life span is just not long enough. I am like Buzz (heaven forbid). What I am most fond of is stuff earned by Daddy. Don't know if it is the field issued FDR Bible, French Legion of Honor Award or maybe the hand written/illustrated pamphlet the POWs gave him when his time was up running the POW camp in France.

I have many prized possessions but one that comes to mind is a spinning top that my Dad made me when I was a kid. He made it out of a wooden thread spool and a stick.

My Remington 700 ADL 270. I bought it in September of 1977, basically with my last cent. I bought it 4 months after graduating from high school and I had just moved away from home in with a HS friend in a 2-bedroom mobile home. I paid my way for everything other than a place to live and eat when I started sacking groceries @ Winn Dixie in 75 as a sophomore. I couldn`t even afford a scope when I bought it at K-Mart for 156 dollars. I was able to save up enough money before the season started to buy a Redfield 6x scope (69.00) though. The scope stayed on the gun till 2005 and I sold it for 60 bucks. I had never deer hunted before, but my roommate's family had a place we could hunt on. I killed a spike on opening weekend and I have had buck fever ever since. I have killed every whitetail but 2 with it since I bought it. Killed 12 hogs with it this deer season and carried it with me and every hunt. The attachment for me (I think) is my 18 year old self that was just starting out in life after growing up poor and not having nice things like my friends. I remember showing the gun off to all of my friend who came over. It has traveled thousands of miles with me back and forth to hunts, mostly in the front seat like an old friend. Butch Johnson made the diving catch at goal line..? Randy White and Harvey Martin got Co MVPs..? I may be all wrong, but thats what I remember. I dont remember halftime entertainment though.
At some point in life its time to quit chasing the pot of gold and just enjoy the rainbow. FR

My longest shot would have only been 165 yards anyway.

Never thought about it much but I guess if house was on fire and I could only get one item out it would be my Dads M70 3006. He died of heart attack at 55 when I was 19. From that point on its the only gun Ive killed a deer with. First pic is him with his best Muley the year before he died. Mom was with him and spotted the buck first. Then a few pics with me and the same rifle. Hard to nail it down to just one, but something that I hold near and dear is from my paternal grandfather: A hand-drawn panorama of the internment camp at Isle of Man in England, where he was a civilian prisoner during World War 1, about 107 years ago. He was Austrian and therefore automatically deemed to be a threat.

I can't name one thing either.
Grandfather's WWI helmet and gas mask. Inside the gas mask case is a spike he carried if Germans overran his trench.
The toy box Dad built for me.
Grandfather's US GOVERNMENT 1911A1. He kept in a house shoe beside his bed.
My first Leatherman multi tool, gift from Dad.
A pocket cross that help carry me through a tough time.
Savage 22LR / 20GA over under. Christmas gift when I was 10. Then my 12 years younger brother hunted with it too.
If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Two items - my great Grandfather's Stephens Crackshot...circa 1907. One of the very few items I got from my father's side of the family.
And a model sail ship I built with my maternal grandfather's assistance for a Cub Scout badge...sometime around 1973 so 50 years ago. I am not a keeper or terribly sentimental, so I don't form deep attachments to many material items, but these two mean something to me.
