I plan on going to the Texas doughboys wild bunch match in Bowie when I get a chance. Looks like a good time, and from what I’ve seen on their FB page, they’re pretty relaxed on equipment rules.

I went to a couple when I was in my mid 20's in Granbury and Glen Rose, It was not for me. There was a lot of overfed and nearly dead guys there acting like they were Wyatt Earp, they thought they new everything about anything. They were some of the worst reloaders I have seen, every stage there was at least one guy that wouldn't finish due to not having any powder in his round. They all just shrugged it off and called it a squib, smiled and went on like it was supposed to happen. I may try it again in 20 more years when I am in my 70's.

I have not gone to a SASS match, but after hundreds of USPSA, 3 gun, 3d archery, and other shooting matches, I say just load your stuff up and compete. Read the rules before you go so you know the safety procedures. Most people at a match will give you the shirt off their back if it helps a newcomer. You aren’t gonna win when you start, so you may as well participate.

I don't want to invest in the required clothing...or wear it.

I sold my single action .45 anyway ... and the mold and dies.

Pass the gravy.

I haven't done it, but there's a shoot at 1:00 the third Sunday of each month at Arlington Sportsman's Club.

Follow the link to search SASS Clubs in TX. SASS Clubs. type Texas in the search bar.
I'm familiar with the Club in Leonard and some really great people shoot there.

I'm in the Austin area and there are some good clubs here also.

at least I would only need 1 gun roflmao

seriously, it would be quite an investment to start at my age

2, SA pistols
1, Shotgun
1, Rifle
1, derringer
1, Wild Bunch 1911

Leather to cover all the above. HUGE leather. I could go to Fredericksburg and gather all in one spot at Texas Jacks.

I realize it is short notice, but I'm going to Lockhart in the morning to shoot with the Plum Creek shooting Society. They are hosting the 2023 Texas State match. You are welcome to come
out and I'll show you around.

Next weekend is the Texican Rangers, south of Fredricksburg.

I'll send you a PM
