Looks great….did you already have a wire drop there? Didn’t see a line.

Yessir, wire was dropped there, and reinforcing lumber installed before the tongue and groove ceiling. I dropped a plum bob to the center of the future table to locate my two chain centers on the ceiling. When we installed the tongue and groove ceiling, I left Sharpie marker X's where my lag bolts needed to go in. That was 3 years ago.

Last winter was dry, so I was brush clearing. Decided to finally knock this out, this winter. It was a whole lot of work!

My bride wanted some light.

Let there be light! Two four foot long shop LEDs.

I like it.

I made a very similar piece about half that size for a pool table a long time ago. I thought it would be fun to use hand pounded iron rivets to connect the wood to the iron. I was wrong.

I like lots of light, that way I can wear sunglasses at the table and take a snooze cheers

When I'm done with a project, I don't want to have to touch it ever again.

Some people don't have the time to do it right the first time, but they have the time to re-do it.

Funny you say that, back when I ran auto repair shops (went from being a master mechanic to having my own) and flag hour guys would try and do shortcuts because they “didn’t have time”, of course it’d always come back for warranty. I used to ask them, if you don’t have the time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to fix it?

Great looking project! For the super bright stuff we’ve got around the house, I’ve installed dimmers. My wife hates super bright overhead lights so it’s easy to help control the amount

I love dimmers, and she doesn't. So, there's dimmers on almost every circuit.

Really the only circuits without dimmers is the vanity lights.

I’ve had to install dimmers in every house we’ve been in. When we argue (quite literally only happens every few years) I threaten to take her dimmers out. To her, that’s the equivalent of her taking away sex
