Who uses All seasons protein feeders?
I’m looking at the 600 lb feeders with timers.
Are they reliable and will they last?

Me. Yes, and yes.

Been a great investment and addition to how I hunt. We hunt a huge ranch. No way I am going to be able to produce bigger racks and grow bigger bodies by supplementing the diet. I use it strictly as an attractant. My ASF timed protein feeder goes off at sun up to mitigate coon traffic. This is my second season and it's worked out great. I only feed protein from about September 1 to end of deer season. Corn is 365 days, one short cycle off season, 2 cycles Sept 1 through end of season.

I run the one cycle 7 seconds and that's about 600 lbs of protein for 80-90 days.

An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Thanks.
I have a self feeder in Coleman county, the deer are hitting it harder than the corn.
I have a cell cam on it and do have coons every once in a while, but the bucks hit it at night.
I want to illuminate the night feeding.

Another reason mine goes off at sun up. I want to be there when the big bucks show up for breakfast, or to see the does that hit it.

I use the ASF protein feeders (1000# stand and fill) and they work great, minimal coon issues and so far the pigs haven't caused any trouble with mine. Free choice protein pretty much year round as much as I can keep it filled.

I also have a timed "protein" feeder that I use as a corn feeder, it goes off twice each morning and twice each eve. Works just like a regular corn feeder but doesn't sling it, but with the trough design there can still be plenty of deer on it. I do see coons come up to it every once in a while but not enough to trap or shoot yet.

The timed feeder has been flawless. The protein feeders have been flawless. Aside from a bad storm ripping the lid off one. It wasn't far away and their repair kits made easy work of the fix.

Do you ever have any problems with it clogging up, using straight pellets?

This is just a suggestion so do as you see fit, or take it for what it's worth. Any feeder will clog up if the protein gets wet. Makes no difference of the brand of feed. When you buy a protein feeder, before you fill it, take a light bulb and put it inside the feeder at NIGHT with the lid on it. Look at all your seams and it's easy to spot a bad weld. Seal them with silicone and you should be good to go. Do the silicone around any windows as well because they will leak. I used to have that problem back in the day when I ran ASF feeders. Today, even with my 2,000 lb feeders I still check them but the material is a heavier gauge and the welds are a lot better quality.

That is a good idea, and I will do this.
Makes sense.

I got one protein feeder set up, got all the joints and rivets sealed with silicone then went over it with flex seal, plus done a little camo job in it.

I can't complain about mine really. It don't hold the amount of feed that they said it would. When empty there is a lot of feed on the side because the slant on the bottom is not steep enough of an angle. Probably close to 50 pounds or more stuck on the sides because lack of slant to head down the shoot,

They hold their value. I had a few free feed ones that I bought used and sold 2 a couple years ago for about the same price that I paid 4 years earlier. I don't like that protein could get wet and clumped together in them though.

As I mentioned above timed ASF has been a great used as an attractant for me. We're adding another this weekend.

Its because the advertised capacity is in corn, protein weighs less.

I disagree with you, the one I am referring to is a 1000 lb timed protein feeder.

All feeders are measured in corn weight capacity. But my ASF 600lb trough feeder will not hold anywhere close to what it should. I've measured feeders before and it is generally 10% less protein that corn...so my 600 lb feeder should hold 540 lbs protein but most I can get in them is 450 lbs with bags and depending on density and size of pellets maybe 475. Most of the time mine holds 9 bags of Purina 20%. The cone is not enough angle but what may be your problem is humidity or moisture content of your pellet or not feeding enough to empty the feeder fast enough...feed sits in a humid climate and it will bridge up to the sides when feeding rates are low volume. Been there done that....been feeding protein out of every feeder style or type since 1990.

I utilize free choice Texas hunter products. We can put 24 bags of protein in a 1,200 pounder and 12 bags in a 600 pounder.

#2 going up this weekend. onlysmithandwesson's impressed the heck outta me, and I am tired of filling a 750lb protein feeder every 3 weeks.

Mind you, 16k acre low fence ranch. Being 300 miles away, I couldn't put out enough protein to actually make a huge difference.

$800 and $1000 nowadays. Depends on where you are located but some dealers keep them in stock and will work with you on a quantity buy. If you are close in the South Texas area, PM txtrophy85 and see if he can help you out. If you are north or closer to the northern hill country..pm I will give the dealer I bought mine from.

You may want to call a dealer and double check that they have what you need in stock.

There were only two dealers on my way from FTW to our place in the panhandle, and both were out of stock. Ended up having to buy one in Weatherford.

Good luck!!

That style and type of feeder is not something they make everyday. They make them in runs on a schedule, so there are times they are out and won't make them for weeks again. When I bought 4 of them, I lucked into the dealer having 3 in stock and got my last one about 3 weeks later. Price had gone up but he honored my price I paid earlier.

I bought a few recently. The first one I set up, I poured the protein in and then checked the motor. Motor spins but nothing is coming out. I put one bag in the other two and checked it before adding anymore and there are working fine.

I hear the motor spin but nothing is coming out. Any ideas? Any advice would be appreciated. I smacked the underside of it and heard/saw protein in the feeding plate. Started to take off the underside plate but realized all the feed was going to come out. Though that may have adjusted it but nothing has worked.
