Sure it is. Going to the county seat here (Palo Pinto-pop. 174) is the exact same as going to downtown Ft Worth (pop. 2.1 million). I bet they move you right on through and it's real painless lol

Commend you Bob for not getting on crying about doing your civil duty as I have seen in the past from a few others, It has to be done and we need good folks to sit in those chairs.

well, to be fair, I seem to get picked a lot. even got called for federal once. That said, I've seen my peers and would never want to get judged by them.

I sure understand that. I also seem to get the "card" frequently and always the same result for me (outside of civil proceedings)

Last time I got called in Ft Worth, it was over an appeal to a [censored] battery charge that should have never been in court ( a large diverse lady slapped the excrescent out of a larger diverse lady). They got to me and the prosecutor said something to the effect "You look like you would like to day something?" I replied that I was trying to hold my tongue but I was pissed that city was wasting the court's and the juror's time on this type of case. You could see the judge trying to suppress a laugh.

I was excused and got a couple of slaps on the back as I walked out.

the criminal case I set on was a dad who raped his daughter repeatedly from the age of 6. it was HORRIBLE and we had to listen to her testimony and see her interviews with CPS. the guy didn't take the stand and didn't let us decide his punishment. I hear he got 40 years and I think he got off light. The girls family didn't believe her and the whole experience left me scarred. Never want to repeat that one.

On the story side, I was involved in a Federal Arkansas civil trial awhile back, working with the attorney on the plaintiff side. Anyway during jury selection there are statements from both sides before questions towards the jurors. The plaintiff side was asking for over 10 million in damages. Right after he said that, a juror stood up and shouted " 10 million!? Heck, 100,000 to me would be enough for a lifetime!" Needless to say he did not get selected.


I still believe it is the largest amount awarded in an Arkansas state history.

I was on a jury in the '80s when I was 19 and we found the person guilty. Never stops me from getting on a jury and I gladly show up anytime I'm called.
