Hate to use such an uncivilized weapon but unfortunately my skills with a trad bow are limited in range and the deer hadn't been cooperating. No way I wanted to have to sink to the low level of using a rifle or worse, a crossbow so that was the next best choice to my longbow.
Well I can't say I enjoy shooting mine like I do my trad bows but . . . There is something satisfying about the consistency of shooting a bow with sights and let off. That said there isn't near the satisfying feeling of a kill with it vs a trad bow. But part of that may be the hundreds of dead animals over two and a half decades. Either way it's bowhunting. I won't say that about a crossbow though.
Had a customer buying a crossbow after getting a shoulder injury, his son was giving him grief about it. I ask the son what bow he uses and his answer was a top end model Mathews. Looked at the Dad and said I will be right back. Stepped in the techroom and got my recurve, brought it out and handed it to the son.
Told him unless he uses a mans bow, not one with training wheels not to give his dad grief
He said no one hunts with those, I jusytold him I do. The dad busted out laughing and bought his xbow.
lf the saying "Liar, Liar your pants on fire" were true Mainstream news might be fun to watch
