Did you buy the dumplings? I'm presently looking for new ideas for venison and elk.

That sounds delicious. My wife buys frozen dumplings from Trader Joe's for the kid's to eat after school. These sound so much better.

Blank, one thing that recipe doesn't indicate is whether to brown the meat before assembling the dumplings. I would assume yes, but there is no mention to do that. It just says "2 pounds ground elk" and never mentions anything about cooking it beforehand.

I'm sure it is done with raw meat. The size of a dumpling is not very large, and frying for 3-4 minutes, then steaming would cook the filling totally fine. The only time I pre-cook is if I use raw pork or raw chicken, and do it in the larger egg roll wrappers where I may not get the center up to 145-160 degrees
California Rolls - diced chicken, avocado, bacon, mozzarella cheese in egg rolls Pork Rolls - ground or diced pork, veggies, fried rice

We did not brown the meat. We mixed with kimchi and put into wrappers and steamed in a bamboo steaming basket for 11 minutes.
