I bought the 788, for my son when he was 3 and he is now 15 goin on 16 and hates hunting crying

I didn’t have a pot to piss in when I got it for him and it was when Nikon still made scopes lol it’s been awhile

I haven’t drug it out In probably 5 years. Was hoping to get a shot on something tonight

BUT, as luck would have it the pigs came in at dark

So, the new Ruger Ranch 300 blackout did the heavy lifting. I took them both to the stand

That Ruger is a nice pig rig -- and capable, too. Which bullet do you like for this work in the Blackout?

It’s pretty hard to beat the Barnes 110 ttsx/tac-x for super sonic use on the Blackout.

I'm not the OP but the Winchester Deer Season 150 Grain you can find at Academy just flat out flatten pigs.

It’s the only bullet I’ve tried so far, brand new rifle

I've used the 125 SST and 125 Ballistic Tip for years. It's the best all around bullet I've seen for hunting. The 150 grain will work, if you can get expansion. The 150 grain weights are generally going to slow to expand well. I guess that's why Winchester uses a larger tip for better expansion on the 150's.

I have virtually the same suppressed setup with thermal on a Ruger Ranch rifle in 300 BLK. I haven't used it very long, and only shot a few hogs with it so far. I've been shooting the subsonic Nosler 220 grain Custom Competition HPBTs, and they sure seem to thump 'em hard.
