Hundreds of thousands of guns are bought and sold legally from individuals with zero paper trail.
If you buy a new gun the background check does not record anything about your gun. However the FFL who you bought the gun from will have a record. If a gun was used in a crime and obtained by law enforcement they can trace the gun to the manufacturer who can then trace it to the dealer, who can then find out who originally purchased it.
There is no central database that maintains records of firearm sales.

No there is no firearm registration in Texas.

You really do not know how this works. So you make a comment like this to make yourself look more intelligent by comparison? Shall I beg your forgiveness O mighty HoneyBee? It was a sincere question, and I have good reason for asking it. And yes, it’s because I don’t fully understand how it works.

Pretty sure the FFL has to keep the 4473’s for 20 years I wouldn’t want to make a mistake when it comes to gun laws… especially NFA items. I get this whole thing is a giant mess… and I also understand the frustration, but huge fines and imprisonment wouldn’t be worth it to me.

I have never bought a gun for anybody that required a 4473 form to be filled out and never will, I have never surrendered my ID to buy one from an individual and never will.

Dusty Armadillo sounds like a young man asking honest questions because he doesn't know.
To your question the answer is no.

To answer your question. No, you should not trade drugs for multiple pistol braces so you can cover them with cosmoline to bury in your back yard to later dig up and take to New York to sell the unregistered illegal braces to gang members on the black market for a hefty profit. I can see why you thought it would be a good idea, but every gun and gun part you have bought and sold online, paid with a credit card, brought at a firearms related store, etc. has already been coded and entered into a secret BATF database. They are watching you here and everywhere. So, sorry, they already know about the 13 you said you already bought. Next Question?

Just trying to make heads or tails of the whole "gun registry" debate.
Somehow get accused of being a criminal in the process.
Unreal.
