What things do you do to pass time between morning and afternoon hunts and after last hunt and before bed? Read a book, look at internet on phone, play dominoes, hunt quail or rabbits or some other game, eat, watch TV, all of the above / none of the above, something different. Really talking about activities different than filling feeders, checking game cameras, etc.. Especially where camps are more rustic, basic function in nature and generally hunting on one's own with no sons or daughters around to occupy your time. For me, I'll check internet, nap some, roll into town for bite to eat, shop unnecessarily in town, catch a movie matinee, etc. What do you all do to pass the time between and after hunts????

Forgot, I'll go to local deer processor on occasion to score some current hunting Intel, gauging veracity of rut, etc. and just get some plain ole inspiration and excitement of gandering into the meat locker to see what is hanging...

usually go back to camp, eat a bite, nap, then back to the woods. In the evenings, get back to camp, fix dinner, eat, visit (if someone else is there), to bed ...

It's usually just the wife and I now at camp since I retired, and we go during the week. We'll eat, watch the old comedy shows on local tv, wife will nap, and I'll piddle around camp some. This year we sat in the blind a lot longer than other years. After evening hunts we'll eat and hit the hay pretty early unless the wind is down, then we'll make a little fire. 16 miles to town, so that's a rare trip.

Depends on where I’m hunting, but if I’m at the home place I will nap, piddle in the barn, burn brush, shoot my bow…stuff to pass the time.
For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I usually nap between hunts.
When alone at camp in the evenings I usually bring along some brass that needs work of some sort.

We don't have internet or phone service at out whitetail camp. I usually hunt until mid morning, go eat a good breakfast of biscuits and eggs, then hunt from about 12-2:00 or so. Mid day hunts can be very good. Time to get a snack then back out hunting until dark. I enjoy cooking and eating a good supper as well. Shoot the bull a little with the guys, usually in the rack at 9pm ready to repeat the process the next day.

Heck, I live here. I’ll walk to a blind, hunt, walk home and do ranch stuff and the occasional nap. Trying hard to avoid the honeydo list every day, but the neighbor is often over here avoiding his wife’s honeydo list. We hide in my barn workshop and drink beer. It’s a good life…

Besides any work that needs to be done, I like to cook or prepping for the next meal. Will nap when I'm dead. Love hunting and cooking for folks I care about but I feel like crap if I take a nap, would rather stay up and be doing stuff. When I do sleep I sleep hard and it's the best sleep ever.

Watch football and drink beer.
You have to remember, they might not be drinking as much as we are.

If I didn’t get a deer that morning, normally I will head back to the cabin and make a little breakfast. Afterwards a bit of reading or watching whatever I downloaded to my Ipad (no tv) and 9 times out of 10, I will fall asleep in the chair. Sometimes I will do a noon hunt depending on the weather or moon phase…or if I am really bored.
Evenings are pretty much a repeat of the mornings, if I am taking a deer to the processor I occasionally grab something to eat in town as a celebration. Usually though, Fredericksburg is crazy crowded on a Saturday and I just head back to see what Marie Callender or Chef Stouffer has prepared for me.

We mostly do ranch chores from filling feeders to fixing fences (holes dug under them), to cleaning things up around the ranch house. It is rare to have spare time really. Hopefully next year we will have things in much better order by the time deer season starts and then be able to enjoy a few more Saturday afternoon college games and just riding around the place in the Mule or truck.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I hunt 7 days a week from start of archery season till end of Feb. with MLD for whitetail. So when I am done hunting I am doing ranch work till it is time to go out in the afternoon to hunt again. No time for naps or going into to town to eat(closest town is 15 miles away). If I am guiding then we hunt till hunter is ready to get out and then I do ranch work till time to go out that afternoon. For Mule Deer I hunted till time for lunch then out after lunch to hunt till dark. Good days never came in for lunch. Seasons to short to waste time at the house or on the internet when mule deer hunting.
Are idiots multiplying faster than normal people?

I spend times between hunts either doing chores, working in the shop or digging for Indian artifacts at the ancient camp site on my land.

Only thing I miss about my original hunting group I grew up with are the afternoon poker games.

After the morning hunt I go back to camp and make a nice early lunch. If there are any projects at camp, I work on those. If not, I read, or go for a walk. Sometimes I am tired, and grab a nap before the afternoon hunt. I don't leave the ranch, because the nearest town is about 20 miles away, and I don't need to go there for anything. No tv, slow internet service on the cell phone. If needed, I may make or return a phone call.
