Hi everyone,

I live in Michigan and I'm interested in hunting a couple jack rabbits so that I can bring them home for taxidermy. As a collector, I'm not interested in more than a couple. I'm happy to pay for this. I'd prefer a guided hunt.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You might also want to look into western Oklahoma and and Kansas. It's possible those two states might not have been hit as bad by the rabbit disease yet. Looks like all of far west Texas already had it two years ago.

Come to Wyoming, they yard up here and you'll find hundreds at a time and probably on public land.
We have white tail jacks, and jackalopes too if you're real lucky.

If you are in Michigan you can find jackrabbits closer to home. You'll start seeing white tailed jackrabbits in western Minnesota and North Dakota, they are considerably bigger than the blackmailed jackrabbits in Texas and they turn white in the winter...giving you a couple taxidermy options. Otherwise...its no problem finding jackrabbits in Texas!

Growing up 50's & 60's, jacks were thicker than fleas on a dog. Now, haven't seen one in years.

Good grief, I was wondering why I haven't seen any rabbits last couple seasons - I just chalked it up to the unusually high number of coyotes. Wonder if they will ever make a comeback?

I know for a fact West Texas still has plenty of them! I'm sure the majority of ranchers wouldn't mind you taking out a few either.

Lake Meredith public would be your best bet. I'd take you out to my property but it's relatively small. Meredith is comparatively huge.
