I am actually getting embarrassed the way our roads look. People now seem to throw anything and everything out without regard to neighbors or wildlife. Wish the state would restart "Don't Mess With Texas".

So true. Makes me feel sick and madder than hell to see slobs leave trash scattered in the outdoors or anywhere for that matter. I hate people more every day.

Along the road in front of my place, I pick it up and throw it right back in the road, glass bottles and all. Just to show the Pigs what a POS they are. Some Basta#d drinks Coors Lite I'd like to have a talk with him someday.

It will only get worse.....the people that are moving to this state do not care about our culture, wildlife or landscape. The same ones that think wind turbines are great, and think country living is the suburbs.

When I used to bank fish, I'd always carry a plastic bag and pick up the aluminum cans that were always scattered about. I'd make enough $ to pay for my minnows. Now adays they throw garbage right out the window while sitting at a stop light. I hate litterers almost as much as thieves.

I agree, Jimbo. I was parked the other day in front of Popeyes and it appears as if someone did an oil change in the parking lot and just threw 4 empty quart containers of oil on the ground. There was a trashcan no more than 30 feet away. We take the dogs on a good walk just about every night and will bring a big trash bag about once a month. People aren’t raised right.

I don't drink it. Some dooch driving down my road does and pitches the cans out.

If you live on a highway, you will see more trash than you can stand, and a lot is from hunters. We pick up corn bags all of the time. And beer bottles do not "accidentally" fly out of the back of the truck.

We can tell when deer season starts by the number of beer cans on our county road and the bags from the burger joints, and it ain't locals doing it.

The last couple of years we had our place in southern Gillespie County there was an organized run with water stations on our road. There were trash cans at each, but lots of runners just dropped their paper cup on the ground, I guess 'cause that's what they do at the Boston. rolleyes

LOTZ of folks think it's all about them...all the time.

A few years ago there was a run out of Greenville. They had a water station set up in Bailey. When I drove by there everybody was gone and there was a string of empty water bottles that went from Bailey to almost Wolfe City on Hwy 11. I got a hold of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the Hunt county sheriffs office and told them about it. Within an hour they had two guys walking picking up bottles. I guess they would have left them if I hadn't called.

I would have picked them up but didn’t want to take the evidence to the boat ramp where green jeans was waiting.

A quarter mile north of me is hundreds of acres in cultivation. For years it has been leased to be farmed, and day leased for dove hunting. It was always Grand Central Station on September 1. Two years ago there was more litter than one man could pick up in a day. It would have been a few miles of walking the perimeter of the fields to pick it all up. The land owner, or the farmer must have taken care of it, after about a week.

There's no dove hunting there anymore. Serves em right!

It's so annoying when you see that crap. I camped Saturday night, first thing I had to do is pick up all the trash around my camp site. Who wants to camp and look at garbage all over the ground. Always have to clean the garbage out of the fire pit. Why do people burn garbage in the fire pit, that is where you cook your food. I always leave my camping area pristine.

Mountain Dew and 1 oz 7.5 shot lead sure smells like young bucks. I'm not saying they are always the ones that are POS, but most of the time it is. Lots of them don't come from hunting families or are just young and dumb.

I've been hunting with a group of guys half my age, buddies of my son. They're mad at em... scout like crazy, know how to setup and call, etc. But when it comes to clean up, they're terrible. The first couple times I didn't "Dad" them. I just picked em all up and made sure they saw me. After that I made them pick up their stuff. Last week we were in waste deep water hunting a hydrilla patch in a good wind. All our empties got caught up on the edge of the hydrilla. Without asking, they went out and picked them all up. Took longer to pick up the empties than it did to get our limits. I can only hope that wasn't just cuz I was there. I see it as a lead by example thing.

The last time I was public hunting I found several unfired 20 gauge hevi-shot shells strewn around on a path (in plain sight, not lost in grass or anything), that's expensive carelessness.

I could care less about the highway right of ways; there's adopt a highway groups and even the sheriffs work detail for that. Every spring tho, I take one full weekend and drive all the back roads and tracks in my hunting area, picking up trash and beer cans. The Natural Light drinkers seem to be the worst!!

Make drinking and driving legal and you will have fewer empty beer cans on the road....

I was sitting in a long line at McDonalds last week. Lady in front of me drops her cigarette butt right there out the window and instantly lights another one. Took us about 10 min to get to the window and as she is driving away she tosses the new butt out. I just shook my head my head in disgust.
I guess she could have been worse and been one of those douches that empties the ashtray out in parking lots.

Worst littering is a dirty diaper in the Walmart parking lot...My kids used to get tired of picking up trash on our campsite, straightening up and cleaning the table in a restaurant, and picking up trash on trails when we were out. They would complain that it was someone's job to pick that stuff up. I'd tell them you aren't so high class that you can't clean up after yourself. And if you think you are then I will just live off you for a while...

Most trash is blown trash. Now, whether that means someone put it in the back of their truck so it would blow out or just thought it would be ok I can't say. But bottles, that's another thing. Someone's errant cig butt cost me a 1600 sqft cabin, a 53 willy's jeep, two rifles, most of my deer heads and a lot of memories, plus 8000 acres burned and ultimately, the loss of a lease.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

At the gas pump in Wolfe City, I saw a guy unwrap a new package of cigarettes and drop that plastic on the ground. He was literally standing three feet from a trash can. I will never understand it.

I commonly see people in town stopped at a stop light open the door and set their Starbucks or McDonalds cup down close the door and drive away. Pisses me off. Grandpa always told us to pick up shotgun hulls always have always will.
