Hope you have your Metamucil ready if you actually take those pills. Good luck Buzz.

It was prescribed for after my shoulder surgery I had the 28th. Just made me feel strung-out for an hour and a half and didn't do that much for the pain. A little left-over Tramadol was way better. Only Tylenol Arthritis and martinis now.

Be careful with Tylenol and alcohol, not good on the liver to mix those.

After my shoulder surgery, the Tramadol worked pretty well, but didn’t last long. The Hydrocodone worked better and lasted longer, but I could feel the draw of taking more as it lost the effect on me over time. I got off it as fast as I could. And, of course, there’s the constipation from the hydrocodone.

I was given some after my surgery last February. You need to chase those with stool softeners at least 2:1 flush

Opioids affect everyone differently. For some, it makes them sick and they do nothing but puke while taking them. Others, it just takes the pain away without associated cravings or "addiction." For some, it does nothing. For some, it eventually ruins their lives.

For the War on Pain Medicine Warriors, it's the devil.

All the best, Buzz. Heal quickly, sir.

I won't take hydrocodone, just makes me feel sick to my stomach and overall like chit.

Morphine doesn't do much for me either, I need Dilaudid or Fentanyl for severe pain.

With the vomiting, hives, and fever it causes me combined with the very real threat of substance abuse issues, I don't touch it. Only surgery I ever had was with a non-opioid anesthetic and pain reliever for recovery.

Pass the gravy.

Understood, and thanks. The stir-craziness is getting to me. I'm getting the hang of driving one-handed though! up

“Driving one handed”, man that brings back memories. My right shoulder surgery back in the 90’s forced me to learn to do things with the wrong arm. Shaving was kinda scary, as was tooth brushing - might poke out an eye. Even eating was a challenge for a while. And driving my stick shift sports car was tough with the left hand.

I'm gonna need surgery on my right shoulder in the near future. Being right handed i'm trying to force myself to use the wrong hand more to be prepared. Two things i absolutely cannot do with my left hand, button my pants (really need both). and use tp after going to the restroom.

Butt wiping was a bit difficult for a while, but you finally get used to being semi left handed . Back then I was a serious tennis player and taught myself to play left handed. I wasn’t that good left handed, but I was competitive with the real bottom rung hackers. In another area I switched the computer mouse to the left side and became a ‘left mouser’. You gradually become wrong handed acceptably. Still hard to get by with one hand.

All that said, when I started having right shoulder problems again about mid-year, I was terrified and decided to ignore the problem and just hope. Over time it seems I have mostly healed whatever was damaged, thank goodness. The thought of having the surgery again is more than I can handle at this point in my life, and this age.

Fun fact: There's a "trick of the trade" in Trumpet playing that, if you experience a really difficult passage that your fingers fumble every time, go over it slowly, but with your left hand, then try again normally (right-handed). It works.

With two elbow surgeries, I had to learn... and summon every ounce of ambidexterity I could muster. When the dam breaks... walking

No kidding the health would be very busy with all us old farts.

1. I wipe with lefty already.
2. I have Tramadol if the Hydro is not working
3. key is to start taking the pain killer before the pain hits, same with the Dulcolax.
4. using the left only for a while is going to be very awkward. I've started trying to use it. always took it for granted
5. Yall may miss me for a while. Can't Hardley use this machine with one hand.

My surgeon did tell me the wrist will hurt more than my knee because of all the small bones and verves cry

“More than half of adults who used cannabis to manage their chronic pain reported that use of cannabis led them to decrease use of prescription opioid, prescription non-opioid, and over-the-counter pain medications, and less than one percent reported that use of cannabis increased their use of these medications,” the authors wrote in the research paper, which received federal funding through the National Institute on Drug Abuse.

“The high degree of substitution of cannabis with both opioid and non-opioid treatment emphasizes the importance of research to clarify the effectiveness and potential adverse consequences of cannabis,” it says. “Our results suggest that state cannabis laws have enabled access to cannabis as an analgesic treatment despite knowledge gaps in use as a medical treatment for pain.”

Weed or cannibas is worthless on pain in general

You go into the emergency room for something like needing your gall bladder removed and weed/cannibas would be useless. If it was effective it would be given.

Chronic pain (Persistant or intermittent pain that last for more than 3 months.) People have quacks that prescribe mass quantities of heavy pain meds for minor pain control where cannabis would be just as effective with less intrusive side effects. I've used it for years back & knee pain the VA wanted to give me all the Darvocet and Hydrocodone I wanted but I declined them and only use THC for the pain I experience. It may not work for everybody, but it works for me and I don't need a laxative to leave a crap because I take it. You take a Dab of 99% THC-A Crystalline and pain is a distant memory.

It's really only illegal because big pharma couldn't control it and pay off politicians with kickbacks.
