Never been a fan of beef stew really and I’ve never made it. But I got some venison stew meat I need to use so here we go. Some potatoes carrots onion and celery. Smells good so let’s hope it turns out good.

Will have to try those suggestions next time. Had my taste tester, my brother, stop by the make sure it was edible. Guess he thought it was good cause he took some home for lunch tomorrow which he never does at work. Said he couldn’t even tell it was deer meat. Got it all packaged up for dinner at the cabin this weekend.

Roast and beef stew were the things as a kid I never liked. juggle not sure why just didn’t. Now I like cooking so I play with different things and make them to my taste which has changed many things that I eat. I snuck some last night for a late snack and it did turn out pretty good. Gonna have to make another batch as I don’t see this one lasting the weekend.

I've got a go-to recipe that I've used for years and I personally think it's the best stew around. It's in the Grazing Across Texas cookbook by Tosh Brown. Awesome stories and photography in the book, as well.

Stew is one of a few things my wife cooks good. Beef broth makes it real good, Wichersister to deglaze the browned beef.

If you start it out like a gumbo and make a Roux it turns out great, just add beef bullioun and you have a good base.

Made another batch tonight. About three times the size of the first one. Brother tasted and said it was good. I’ll eat some in a few days. Looks and smells good.

Once I learned to add a healthy amount of cumin spice to my stews, they've gone from boring to being devoured by everyone at the table.
