I've got about 10 of these that I plan to refill and believe I have everything I need.
All ten have zero pressure inside because I left them connected to my Little Buddy heater until well after they became empty.
Will the bottles re-pressurize themselves once I add propane from a 20-lb bottle and hose? I have a scale to ensure I don't overfill them.
TIA

Saw a UTube on this. The guy weighted the bottle empty, and then added propane, he stopped filling at 29 oz.

I stick my empty 1#'rs in the freezer just before refilling - it's near impossible to get them full, let alone 'overfill'.
Very important to 'bubble-test' the 1#'s after refilling - sometimes they just leak.

Did it for a few years and found it a waste of time in the end. Maybe if I was retired and bored.
To be determined

It takes very little time to refill them. I started when the 1#ers were nowhere to be found. Open the vent on the 1# if you want to try and get them closer to full and yes check for leaks.

yep, I have one of the hoses with a gauge and valve to refill. I turn the large propane bottle upside down on a 5 gallon bucket, connect the small bottle and open the valve, sit the small bottle on the floor and come back in a few hours to switch out. I think I am up to over 20 of the small bottles so far on one of the larger bottles. With the prices being $4-6 each, this well pays for itself over one hunting season.

Why not just buy the hose attachment so you can run your heater off of the large propane bottle? Just keep the big bottle outside the blind, run the hose through the wall of the blind.

But where you have multiple blind options, it's a whole lot easier to take along a 1# spare with the Buddy heater than deal with a 20# bottle.

Did it for a few years and found it a waste of time in the end. Maybe if I was retired and bored. Had to buy a single canister last weekend at the hardware store. It was almost $7. It certainly makes sense to at least try refilling the 1 pound bottles for about $1 each.

If they leak, stick them out in the pasture about 200 yards away. Shoot them with a .308 (or other centerfire of your choice). Trust me. 100 yards is not far enough.
