Great video. Young Rembo is out hunting with dad. It is a rainy hunt and they are in the blind. Dad is the spotter guide and Rembo is the hunter. A big buck comes in and dad has Rembo get targeted and he tells Rembo to shoot it in the heart...and Rembo shoots an antler off the buck's head. Dad is surprised. He asked Rembo a couple of times about where he shot the buck and Rembo hasn't a clue. Dad still can't believe his eyes and coaches Rembo to chamber another round as the deer may get back up. Excellent advice of a more experienced hunter. Fortunately, the deer is knocked out and they walk up and finish it off while it was still unconscious. No doubt, that would be a trophy to have mounted with the detached antler and be good for a lifetime of stories.

The Dad’s comment, that it was a new gun and he may have just popped one high makes me wonder if the gun was even shot before or just bore sighted. Not impressed!

Could be several reasons for the antler shot. Walking up to a downed animal & Dad is not armed? Stupid. Walking from the stand to animal with the rifle shouldered? Stupid. Dad more interested in a vid than a hunt!

Once he had his eyes open might not have been too long before that deer got up and took off. Smart thing to do would have been to put a round in him and dispatched it cleanly before they started picking up antlers and yacking it up.

Lots of folks looking at antlers through a scope hit them right there.

There are SO many things wrong with that whole situation, I can't even begin to list them! That's embarrassing.

We have a similar story in my family about a friend of my Grandfathers who blew an antler off a buck and the buck went down. He set his gun down, took off his coat and pulled out his knife to get to work on gutting the buck.
The rest of the story is predictable and why we still tell that tale once in a while.
