Watching TV and see a lot of charitable donation requests. All are $19 per month. Why $19 and not $20 or any other number?

Anybody know about this stuff?

I always assumed it was the same marketing strategy as pricing something at $19.99 instead of $20.00.

Hard pass on most donation ask. Our local church gets 99.9% of all giving over our standard tithe.

scam...you'll get more satisfaction throwing $19 in the street or giving it to a beggar on the corner.

My church gets my "donations", couple hundred a year. They do a lot of good with-it feeding children, homeless, etc.

I think that’s what the ASPCA gets to help you treat your symptoms of D.O.G..

^^^^^^

Exactly,

$850,000 dollars annual salary!

That is just criminal.

If you want to help mistreated/unfortunate animals....give to your local animal shelter. GO and visit in person and you will see what I mean, they need the money and have plenty of animals right in your backyard.

$19 bucks versus $20 is marketing strategy 101. And a lot of people turn off credit card notification texts less than $20 so it helps fly under the radar on a monthly subscription.

Not all charity’s are bad or badly run. A lot of good work being done out there. If you want to sort the wheat from chaff I suggest going to https://www.guidestar.org/ and check out their rating. GuideStar does a very good job of showing which ones make good use of donations (or not). They are they equivalent of the BBB for charities.

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

Yep. $20 sounds a lot more than $19.

Shriner's Children's Hospital and St. Judes both ask for $19 month. Money well spent.

Biased, but my donations all go to Shriner's Hospitals. 22 hospitals offering the absolute best care available with no out of pocket for the families.
