Felt guilty and decided to go to work instead of heading to the lease this morning. Text my hunting partner last night and told him to go ahead and hunt my stand this morning. Just after 8am this morning he sends me this text pic.

A buddy of mine had 160 acres in Kansas we all used to hunt together, and one year he was after a brute 13-point that was probably pushing 190s. I came in from a morning hunt that year and decided to yank my buddy's chain for a bit and told him I shot that deer on accident. He almost kicked me out!

The only thing that might have increased his chances further would it have been the first time he had gone deer hunting.

Met a guy muzzle loading whitetails in Nebraska. First time hunting, put nothing in and didn't care one way or the other. Learned how to load his smoke pole, just picked a tree/sat down & leaned against it. Was on his phone the whole time not paying attention. Heard a noise, looked up to see a huge buck standing in front of him at bow range. Dropped his phone, picked up his muzzleloader/pointed and fired. Dropped him. Biggest buck ever killed on the place and he had no idea what to do with him afterwards. LOL.

Ha . Few years back, on opening day of Oklahoma rifle season, I got caught up at worked. Told my cousin I wouldn’t be there. Guess where he hunted.. He killed the 176 that I passed up the year before and was really looking forward to hunting.

Nice one. Good deed. At least you told him to go hunt your stand....that eases the remorse instead of getting the pick and finding out he hunted your stand and having some ill feelings thinking deer has a shooter's name tag on it, lol. Congrats to your buddy.
