How do you rate it vs an ATACR? I know you have both. I have often wondered how much the NX line gives up vs the ATACR. I don’t know that I’d say it’s giving up anything, they are 2 different classes of scope IMO. The NX8 is more than what 75% of shooter will ever need. The ATACR is prob all JG will ever need until he gets into KO2m. How’s the tracking test with the NX8?

The ATACR is advertised as having better glass than the NX line.

There is an $800-1400 price difference for close to similar magnification scopes so definitely going to be some noticeable differences . ATACR will be better in all areas except weight and range of magnification. Personally, the 2 biggest noticeable differences are better glass and a better eye box in the ATACR. Yea, they are both still NF’s. Kind of like comparing a Toyota 4 Runner or Prado to a Land Cruiser. They are all very reliable and durable, but have extra bells and whistles given the model you pick. In the end they all get you to your destination.

All I've done is zero it at 100 yards, and do some viewing to 500 yards. In the next few days, I hope to have lots of sun and mirage to see how it looks through it.

That is what is on the 300 Norma Mag. If I ever build a 375 Chey Tac, I will move the same scope over and add the extra prism in front.

Since you said yet, then I assume you fully plan on it. If so, please let us know what u find out. I've eyeballed this nx8 line for a while. I maybe nearing getting something of this price level of scope mid next year.

I failed to mention, it has the exact same zero stop clutch as the ATACR line. Which is the best design Zero Stop I have seen to date.

That rifle is set up backwards. Looks like you'd have to shoot it lefty....
Nice setup man!

Some of you may remember the scope fixture I built. And Mil scale target for 100 yards. Dialed up and down two times. Checked tracking on the way up, and on the way back down all four passes. It dialed the same every time. Dial....Result 1.0....1.0 2.0....2.05 3.0....3.05 4.0....4.05 5.0....5.1 6.0....6.1 7.0....7.1 8.0....8.1 9.0....9.1 10.0..10.2

I expected it to be better in tracking.
But I agree. As long as it does the same thing every time, I'm good with it.

I wanted the Mil-C like the other two I have, but they were out of stock.
I'll give this a try. We shall see.

Really? The Mil-XT is my favorite. I have six of them now and am selling off other reticles to get more.

When you get to playing, I’d be interested if it dies the same on a rifle with introducing recoil. I bet it’s the same but curious.

I also have the #634. In short I like it, including the Mil-XT, and I would certainly buy it again.

UNACCEPTABLE!!!! hahaha More than good enough for me. At my layman level, I just can't see the difference to justify the price of a ATACR vs this nx8. Thanks for the update, good info. This is 1 of 2 scopes that I'm eyeing for mid next year. This helps confirmed what i was hoping.

ATACR has its' place, I have two of them.
For a carrying rifle, the NX8 is about 10 ounces lighter. And it is shorter in length.

Update on this scope. I firmly believe the error was parallax. I've got a sub 1/4 MOA load. Lab Radar chronographed the ammo. Kestrel 5700 Elite with Applied Ballistics. I input every parameter very carefully. And here is how the scope tracked today. Spot on. The way Night Force does.

I’ve yet to encounter a NightForce that wasn’t solid in the tracking department. I’ve had 3 and still have 2 but a friend has had 20 and still has 14 or more and is only that low because his specs in ATACR model are specific lol.
