Has anyone seen those stupid Facebook post selfies of hunters laying down next to the deer they've shot? Just curious, maybe I'm too old school but I'm not a fan.

I show more respect to the deer I just killed than that. I must be old school then also.

In the past I've posted deer/hogs that I've shot, but then I realized its distasteful and disrespectful and stopped doing it. I take pictures only to share with the other guys on the lease for managment purposes...or to show the wife what I got that weekend...but after that no more public display. Whenever possible I try to cover their faces for photos, and also cover the blood spilled on the ground. As I get older I'm just more sympathetic to deceased things. One day I will cease to live too, and I hope I wont be surrounded by lowlifes high-fiving each other etc...

I've posted a lot of pic's of deer, hogs, varmints, etc with me in the pic. Maybe they don't look like selfies because I know how to use the timer on my camera and figure out a way to support my phone on a bucket, tree limb, rock, etc....Only people that have a favorable opinion of hunting and my friends see these pic's. I've never had any complaints. There's no attempt to be funny, insincere or be distasteful. I want to capture and keep the experience for all time and look back on it, share it with friends and those that appreciate hunting.
IMO, disrespecting the animal by putting sunglasses or a hat on it, a cigar in the mouth or the like ain't right. Nothing wrong with showing pride in your accomplishment, but it's not something to find humor in.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

I post the photos of animals that I have killed. I'm proud of what I have worked hard to accomplish. I don't give a F... what the limp wrists think. I do clean them up first. No blood in the photos

What’s weird is the ones that lay down next to a dead hog in a pic. Fleas, ticks, fluids all things I don’t want to lay next to.

I love seeing pictures of people's successes. I also share mine. I've taken one 'selfie' with a deer before to send to my wife.....I was overcome with excitement.

I haven't seen this yet. But man, that sounds like a really, really cool thing to do!!
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

No blood in the photos I can tell you have not seen what Curly is talking about or your answer would be much different. It not any like what you do I promise you. Google dead deer selfie or selfie with dead deer to see what I mean. The person will down flat on their back next to the dead animal and take the selfie.

Lots of pictures are dumb. The ol back of the truck with beer can and or perceived trash are disrespectful from a non hunter perspective.
Laying down pictures are dumb but interesting if only shared amongst friends. It gives size reference. Cousin sent one from north of my place of a Mulie he killed. 221 dressed
The selfies I’m really not a fan. I wouldn’t take one. I don’t care if someone takes one but damn sure wouldn’t post on SM

Dead deer pics are important to me. I take a lot of time with them to show off the animal while capturing the moment for the memory. I certainly try to show respect for the animal and I usually always look at the deer for the pic since that is the focus of my pic and not me or the hunter. Laying down next to it isnt the same as this and thats what the OP is talking about.

Maybe if you're trying to get a size reference, but I wouldn't want one for a trophy pic.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

This must go back to some bear take pics folks would post of them next to mainly grizz or brown bear to show size. I used to see those often for bear pics but not so much for hogs and deer. I just stand beside a big hog or buck if it's hanging to show size comparison.
That hog pic looks photoshopped to me.

That hog pic looks photoshopped to me. There is a ton of pics with deer. Just have to Google them or go to the other site listed about to those. They are all with the hunter on his back laying next to a deer or hog or etc. laying on its back.
