I have the hankering for a 22 Creedmoor to complete my collection. I currently have a 6 CM and 6.5 CM and really like the idea of a heavy .22 caliber rifle. My kids are just now getting big enough to start shooting and I think the mild recoil with a more than suitable 100 yard rifle would be the ticket. I have a donor savage action and more Creedmoor brass then I know what to do with.
What say the forum? Also, who should I look at for barrels?

Yes, it should have the exact same head space as the 6.5 CM and 6mm CM.

I just chambered me up one and started working on my stock. I'm going to run 80.5 Berger fullbores...Chad is correct, same HS gauge for all the Gaymoor's.

You'll love the 22 Creed. The hydrostatic shock below 400 is unlike anything I've ever seen.

Did you do the chambering? Or who did you have do it for you? I am thinking about a prefit for a savage I have laying around.

You actually need a 30 TC to complete the Creedmoor collection.

They all seem to charge insane prices or want to take two years to do a simple threading job (ask me how I know...)

Unfortunately, that is a service industry that once someone gets a good business built lots of things can happen...1 - hire help and have to deal with that, 2 - raise prices to attempt to slow the inflow, 3 - keep things the same and everything backs up. Many seem to pick option 3 and folks just get accustomed to waiting. Example - the guy I use to cerokote my guns...I drop off and don't even ask, because anything he tells me is a guess and I've realized/learned that so I drop off without any expectation of when that call will come. Nature of the gun business...
Good luck...someone who I used to use but always hit their estimated deliverables and in general was just a good dude. Jon Trammel in Breckenridge, TX...He's the closest guy to you that I know would do you a good job, if you call him tell him Judd said hello.

Spin up about any 8tw bbl from a reputable maker and run anything from 65gn SGK to 88eldm and go fill an ark full of critters. I find it to be the gun I reach for over just about anything else. Very forgiving to load for and very mild recoil. whats not to like?
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

I like my 22 CM so much that I also built a 25 CM. I'm running custom action's, but using X-Caliber pre-fit barrel's on them. Great barrel's that shoot lights out. I generally shoot the 75gr - 80gr - and 88 gr Hornady ELD-M bullet's out of my 22 CM.

What is the barrel life of a 22 CM. I use to shoot a 22/6mm and it was short 10 shot strings, running it fairly fast 600 rounds tops.. just about the same as a 22-250 or even your 22/243

Update:
I decided to have Drew Wilson from Bison, SD spin me up a barrel that he had on hand (18' threaded Wilson blank, 1-8" twist). He is a member of the 22 Creedmoor FB group and he seems to do good work. I should have my barrel here by next Monday. Fingers crossed that it will half way shoot.
